I wonder how many people actually read both book series in the comment section and how many are just going off of what the guy says, lol. It's like how Hillary says over 33,000 Americans die each year from gun violence when the FBI reports less than 11,000, and in that 11,000 there's suicides and justifiable homicides too. |

There are some obvious ones in there, when you get to the long comment chains that Razorfist is involved in is where the undeniable plagiarism comes in. |

In all honesty, there are lots of things intentionally or unintentionally plagiarized or seemingly identical in literature, music, and other media. There's only a finite amount of possibilities that the human mind can come up with, and it's why you have bands that sound very similar or characters who have very close resemblances to others. Unless something is ripped word for word from a book, script, lyric, or notes, then you cannot say for sure if the work was plagiarized. I'm not a diehard Witcher fan, but the books were great and the games were also great. Tolkien plagiarized elves from the Prose Edda and Google Chrome plagiarized code from Internet Explorer if you want to get technical. Literature and technology relies upon plagiarism to advance. |

One of the plot devices in The Witcher was ripped word for word though, that's what bugged me the most. It's one thing to say oh well, so he shares A LOT of visual similarities, it's a whole 'nother to have the same exact reason they exist. There's a difference between derivation and plagiarism though, deriving something means you would build upon it, add an original flare to it or something of the like. Plagiarizing means you have done nothing with it and have left it as is. You don't advance by copying, you advance by building upon. Edited by Goddess Ultimecia, Feb 18 2016, 03:03 AM.

I've yet to see evidence of the plot device being ripped directly from Moorcocks books and transplanted in to the Witcher series. I've read a few of Moorcocks books and apart from some similarities between the characters there isn't really anything that stands out as plagiarized. The only thing I've about how The Witcher series has plagiarized content was the video that guy made, and he did not provide the evidence, instead saying he was working on another video to provide such evidence which surprise surprise, 3 years later has not been released and provides dead links to supposed comments by Michael Moorcock. The difference is how you cite your sources ;-) |

You're more qualified than I in that regard then.
Might be able to wayback machine those links to see if they're legit or not. |

Neither linksare archived. Michael Moorcock probably did say that the Witcher series copied his Elric series, but then he's also said he never read The Witcher books either. From what I've seen of Moorcock he will leap at any opportunity for a civil suit if he thinks it can earn him money, even if it's something so farfetched as the "color of a wood table on page 34 of chapter 2, paragraph 3 is the same color as the table in page 133, chapter 7, paragraph 7 in my book!". That being said his Elric books are pretty good and definitely worth reading. |

I've found no evidence to suggest The Witcher has plagiarized Moorcock's books. I also find that it's kind of an absurd notion to write off a great game because the story might be borrowed from another source. That shouldn't take away from the developer's achievement. The story is only part of the game. |

I'm enjoying Shadow of Mordor. It's gonna take me ages to finish the story though because I just keep doing side-quests. There's one Uruk captain that I keep messing up with and who now has a power of 20. I can never find him on his own, so keep either having to run away or die. |

I couldn't get into it. The combat was too simple and it held my hand a lot. Story and graphics were great though. I give it that much. It just wasn't my sort of game. |

I can definitely see where you're coming from. The combat is pretty limited and repetitive. |

Honestly I'm pretty confident it started out as a DLC that they decided to market as a full game. It doesn't look like there's all that much to do besides meaningless fetch quests and such, I doubt more than a few minutes of thought were put in to them considering in 3 and 4 every side quest was basically "do this to get this weapon" |

I don't know, they haven't really released very much detail about the game. The sneak peeks and beta testing videos are just that, sneak peeks and beta testing. |

Well from what I've seen it looks pretty bare bones and almost just a continuation of the idea behind the hunter dudes in 4's multiplayer, the guys with bows that can summon tigers, bears and whatnot. It's cool to see a game delve in to that period of history but...it looks pretty crappy as a Far Cry game. Especially since you're just this for some reason monstrously strong Neanderthal type thing who can overpower every Neanderthal through the power of Main Character. I want them to go back to the original game, the feral abilities in that sounded awesome. Screw summoning animals to fight, how about having the abilities of them? |
