How many kids do you see raving about playing a crappy old N64 game though? Backwards compatibility is the same as Nintendo's old games, largely caters to nostalgia. Not many 12 year olds are going to play GTAV then go back and enjoy GTA3 just as much, it looks like a child drew it in comparison. But Sony and Microsoft have s*** tons more beyond that you're not limited to first party old and new with a small amount of third party. Backwards compatibility is nothing more than a bit of fluff. Innovation isn't always good you can innovate in stupid ways. Also I hate how whenever Nintendo does anything people throw that word out there, even if they don't like it "at least they're innovating" but when anyone else does it good or bad, no praise. Trying isn't respected when anyone else does it. The Wii controls to the gamepad is hardly amazing innovation is it? They went from something pretty new that they could have refined and made amazing to a tablet. I was excited for the Wii 2, accurate motion controls that follow you perfectly! The ultimate Star Wars game where YOU wield the lightsaber instead of swinging like a madman while the game does all the work. Epic archery in Zelda games. Drawing, puzzles, Drawn To Life style games on the big screen! Something like The Sims where you draw houses and s*** and create your own imaginary land full of wonky characters that come to life like your paper drawings never did. Create great art as an adult, connect to your printer and print it out. Tons of potential, the Wii wasn't quite there yet but it did pretty well all things considered and they could have went much further. The game pad technology is pretty dull in comparison to what I thought up in a couple of minutes for refined motion controls. And yes of course you can draw with the game pad but mimicking actual painting would be fun game pad is pretty much the DS in that regard. Would be better if Nintendo picked a direction and stuck to it instead of going all over the place. Edited by Steve, Dec 26 2015, 02:45 AM.

Nintendo is a huge part of my childhood as well. As far as gaming is concerned, it was my entire childhood. But that doesn't mean the newer systems aren't without their flaws. Nintendo isn't selling as many copies as they thought they would sell with the Wii U. It just isn't doing nearly as well as the PS4 or Xbox One, and even the Xbox One isn't doing "amazing." |

There's a visual design element to it as well. The Wii u is just a small, boring looking rectangle with no cosmetic features. Whereas the PS4 actually made an effort with its appearance. This is something that might be overlooked sometimes but I believe it has a big effect on how much you enjoy a console. Certainly the aesthetics of my Sega Megadrive encourage me to play it more than my other consoles despite being technically inferior. |

Yeah the PS4 looks pretty snazzy, I have a nice silver skin on mine. The X1 is pretty unimaginative, it's a big brick with some lines on one part of it...why? PS4 is nice and compact too, you'd think the bigger one would be the one with the better performance. Not that the PS4 doesn't have flaws, being compact means it can overheat. The GameCube was pretty cool I thought, I mean it looks kinda dumb but it has a God damn handle, carry it to your friends house and play Melee with them! Did it all the time, great fun. Nintendo seems to be struggling to appeal to people that don't already like Nintendo games really, they get a new batch constantly given that there are always children around but many move on and teens and above who never liked Nintendo have no reason to hop on. PS4, X1 and PC have a bit of everything, designed for all age ranges. Nintendo is like kids toys such as Lego for ages 3+, that means 3 year olds and anyone older can play with it...but it gets significantly less appealing the older the person is, generally. Give your 40 year old mum some Lego for her birthday see how much she enjoys it

I agree. Nintendo fans tend to be younger or have some connection to Nintendo from their childhood. A teenager or adult who never grew up with Nintendo would probably be more apt to choose the PS4. That's just looking at things from a marketing standpoint. |

So, turns out, I did a stupid! When I opened up my PS4 to change the thermal paste I damaged what I now know to be called a "ribbon cable" Thought nothing off it, just damaged a bit of silver stuff, no exposed wiring or that figured it would be okay. Decided I'll play Bloodborne again since I might buy the DLC if I like it. Turns out my PS4 has been totally fine with the damaged cable...because it was for the disc drive and I've only been playing digital for a while. So I can't put in or eject any games Ordered a spare off Amazon to be here possibly as late as the 14th

Well it's a long-ish cable that's rectangular and it's bent around in weird ways to connect both ends in separate places. So I couldn't get it to go back in without having to tug it through a metal sheet thing in the machine and parts of the sides got slightly ripped. Thought it was fine but...guess not I know how to open it and put it back together a bit more now so should get the new one in just fine. Very oddly placed cable. |

So I finally got Fallout4, dialogue system feels bad still but oh well. So one of the first enemies I ran into was a raider. In Power Armour. With a Fatman. WTF? Is this just normal in Fallout? Edited by Tinny, Dec 27 2015, 02:17 AM.

Did you travel too far south? I surpassed level 40 and only encountered one raider in power armour. And that was part of a quest line. |

I was in Lexington headed to Diamond City. Still feels weird to have generic raiders get power armor. They're like the koopas of Fallout to me. Didn't even have a special name or skull or anything. Just feels so odd in every way. Especially since I find it about then after blowing up the fourth time against ghouls (who weren't nearly as bad). Edited by Tinny, Dec 27 2015, 02:56 AM.

I know exactly where you mean Careful there, later on as you level up Behemoth's can spawn there...so you have them fighting and obviously killing the Ghouls and then the Raider with the Fat Man shooting it. I like that enemies can have Fat Man's, it's nice being against people who also have OP weapons instead of everything being ridiculously easy. Like atm I can kill a Legendary Glowing Deathclaw in a few seconds and that's a dull fight. Someone with a Fat Man can still f*** me up in an instant though I like Power Armour in the game but I feel like there's way too many suits, I have like 20... Not even exaggerating, they're just dotted about my settlements and that's in only one file, there are others I've not got yet from other files so there's like 25-30 at least. (discounting those you can buy) Should be more of a rare commodity. It does make the Brotherhood of Steel so much more badass though, it's damn epic when a Vertibird flies in and the Knights crash down to the ground and start lasering up the place, always feels like some kind of set piece but it's actually just a random event. |

Wait a minute wasn't the brotherhood basically dead aside from DC? Especially since every faction wanted them gone. How are they around with the vertibirds and random encounters? At the same time, it's a freaking fatman at level 4 in a game with 40+ levels at almost the first location you find. And sure it's difficult at first but I took them down pretty quickly once I didn't die immediately (with the laser musket you get in the tutorial) and now I have a Fat Man, the fight with them want very interesting really, it was kind of just quick save until you shoot them. it feels really really weird in general, like they're frontloading all the power on to you. Meanwhile actual named characters go down so generically I wonder why they were given names. I mean maybe it's because I chose 8 int over decent physical stats but still. Can I also say how weird it is that you don't get enough for fives across the board you'd time round? That was just odd. Edited by Tinny, Dec 27 2015, 04:09 AM.

Ah wait sorry that's kind of a spoiler, not too major I guess the BoS always show up really. And no I think this is like 20 years after 3 isn't it? Something like that. Guessing they build themselves up after clearing out the Enclave. Still not read the lore to that in 4 yet, you can learn stuff about the Vault Dweller somewhere not sure what the canon is exactly. I think the named characters are mostly for side quests. Like for settlements you're told to go kill Raiders and you basically just have to kill the leader, who's usually named. Then when you kill them or if you've already killed them next time they're just a standard Raider of whatever level. Guess it's just to add a bit more to the Raiders existence than "Raider" A lot of the time they have little stories which is pretty cool, try sneak in places you know Raiders will be. Quite like the Raiders in this game actually they're not just mindless psycho's, when you kill some of them others respond to it like you just killed their friend. Though they still forget 20 seconds later if you go hide somewhere, wandering around their dead friends body like it never happened Anyway the game doesn't really go by your level now, it does scale past points but there are areas you just shouldn't go near at low levels 'cause you will die most of the time. |

I just can't make any f***ing sense out of the Shadows of Evil map in Blops 3... Why do they need to make everything so overly complicated? It's a nice big map but it makes no damn sense. Complications make it more challenging but not really in a way that's fun. Just feels like everyone is running around like a headless chicken rather than having any sort of plan of defence. I wish Battlefield would add in something like Zombies 'cause at least then it wouldn't be so needlessly convoluted and not difficult because every alleyway looks exactly the same. |
