I tried Skyrim, Fallout 3, and Fallout New Vegas when they came out, but I hated them. When I saw gameplay footage of Fallout 4, I knew that I was going to be playing the game. I'm not sure what is different in this one that I like it so much.

Is it me maturing over the years or is there truly a difference in between those three games and Fallout 4?

I plan on revisiting Skyrim again, but I'm going to be soooooo damn backlogged with new games that come out and games that I want to play that released from 2014-2015 now that I have a good computer that can handle them.

Possibly because Fallout 3 and New Vegas had less going on in their worlds and s***ty graphics? Fallout 4 you only have to walk down the block and s***'s going down.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

Yeah in comparison 3 and New Vegas and Skyrim a bit too feel kind of...artificial in a sense.

Just feels like you're skating around and s*** happens in set places, FO4 feels a lot more natural and it's jam packed with locations.

The combat is way more dynamic and satisfying too it's not like an MMORPG anymore where it's a case of two things stand in front of each other bashing away until one is dead, you actually need to move around and take cover or dodge s*** popping out the ground etc etc.
Running has vastly improved the game, as I said feels more dynamic.

Skyrim I found really boring...there just didn't feel like a lot interesting to do, only really felt exciting when you see a Dragon in the distance or one randomly attacks a town but then that does get tedious, especially when it's just a base Dragon and you get to the point where you can literally punch it to death in seconds.

EDIT I hope they're doing another TES and do for Dragons what they did for Deathclaws.
While Deathclaws actually seem a lot weaker than they were before they are so damn imposing in FO4, even when they're an easy kill they still provoke an "Oh s***!" reaction.

Dragons got way too easy once you got high level ranged magic and melee fighting them wasn't very fun...especially not when they suddenly insta-kill you <_<

So, then it is indeed Fallout 4 being a really good game in comparison. What games would you guys say is a good in terms of comparison with Fallout 4? I want to play more games like this one. I'm truly enjoying it a lot!

Elder Scrolls 4 was good because you had these really interesting elven labyrinths everywhere and the world was full of beautiful looking fauna. Plus the soundtrack was way better. I wasn't a fan of the Deadric realms, or several missions where you had to literally stalk people for like an hour. But apart from that it was great.

Yeah I'd take Oblivion over Skyrim any day, it was so much more fun and though obviously dated the world is so much prettier.
Skyrim is dull and horrible looking in practically every location for no particular reason.
Felt like a lot more was going on in Oblivion too.

I can't really think of any other decent open world games, Bethesda ones are easily my favourites aside from JRPG's like Final Fantasy IX.
Mad Max is supposed to be good, not particularly interested myself. Doesn't seem horrible just not much in to driving in games.

Bethesda games just appeal to me so much more, I don't mind an open world game with a linear story like a Final Fantasy game but never played another open world series where I'm as invested in the world there is to see. Their games might be buggy and often look like crap but they put tons of effort in to world design.

In most games a house you find is just a house, might be some ammo or whatever in it and that's about it.
In a Bethesda game it's rarely just a house, something was or is going on there like maybe people were strangling each other when the nukes fell in Fallout or maybe a cannibal lived in the house in TES and got turned in to some horrible monster.

I'm surprised by how much I'm enjoying Arkham Knight, even the batmobile is pretty great once you get used to it, and the Arkham Knight (calling it right now I bet he's Jason Todd) seems a pretty good villain so far.

You need to dodge and take cover in Fallout? As soon as I got in power armor this game was ezmode. Lol Now I just run up and face punch EVERYTHING. Nothing survives

I never use power armour. I have about 30 power cores now.

Me too, Pel. Does using it make the game that much easier? I also like shooting rather than melee.

I find it too clumsy. I also prefer shooting. I'm using the marksman's .308 combat rifle with the level 3 rifelman perk and it seems to kill everything in two shots at level 29.

Well, on harder modes you do or against tough enemies like Super Mutant Butchers and Legendary Super Mutants in a group.

Assaultrons are c***...

I like melee, not sure why it just feels satisfying especially the Chinese officers sword, so good for cutting Raiders heads off :D

I find melee is pretty good since you can kinda stun lock enemies but the melee weapons themselves aren't nearly as powerful as guns.

Melee is really good against assaultrons. You can keep circling them to avoid their death beam.

I'm a bit stuck on this story mission where I need to connect up these power cables to this teleportation machinery. For some reason it doesn't let me attach a wire to one of the components.

Are there multiple wires coming from the generator you're trying to connect to it?
I think each generator can only have like 3 wires or something.

That bit is kinda awkward, not like everyone is in to basebuilding many people don't bother with it at all so when they get there it makes f*** all sense

I don't really bother with it much, just put shops right next to where I sleep for convenience.

I hope that they play around with the game mechanics a bit with future DLC and make it so the essential tag can be removed from many characters without breaking the game it's quite a downer.
If I want to kill Preston because he's stood in my way one too many f***ing times I should be able to and gain the hatred of the Minutemen or as their general potentially lie about it and say he was a Synth or something.

That kind of s*** would be hilarious.

At least you can kill Mama Murphy.
