I don't get your opinion, Steve. Did you really expect something new from a GTA game, aside from the story, the ability to switch between three characters and a few new activities? A game is a game and fun for only so long. I'm sure I'll get sick of it eventually, but for now I am having fun with it. The over-hyping of the game doesn't take away what it is, a great game. That's on the people expecting a lot more than what they get. The game is definitely a contender for GOTY.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

But it's not the same old GTA they added more pointless things in place of what was already fun in the series.

Why can't we go eat fast food in America? That makes no sense, 100% health from soda machines or a few shops which are extremely rare.
Barring that they've added a lot of realistic details in the game and took away a lot of the silliness you expect to get from GTA.

The radio stations are fairly lame too hardly any classic songs on them or funny talk shows.

Also you get to plan "every detail" in heists...not really though, what guys take part(if it's not just the main 3) and like 2 other options, it's hardly anything complex like it was made out to be.

I don't think it deserves GOTY because it's just not that interesting compared to many games this year, takes away a lot of fun things from the old games and doesn't add anything better.
It shouldn't get GOTY just for it's mechanics.

Online isn't anything fantastic either, it's just the same as other Rockstar titles and full of the same kind of douchebags that turn it in to a constant deathmatch.
What is up with the character creation thing too? I spent like 10 minutes trying to get a cool look for my guy then moved on to selecting what he likes to do, which totally changed his appearance again, wtf? It's totally crap, you can't add any kind of personal touch to it just hope that the random details it adds suit your fancy.

Pokémon, TLOU and BioShock are a lot more more, GTA doesn't deserve GOTY because it would only really be winning it for the regular play option of going on a rampage, which has been in every GTA game ever.

See, this is why I think you need to play the game more. You can run into characters that can later be chosen for heists. Random encounters make this game great. And you can eat, just not the way you did in SA, you just do it at home.

I only remember being able to drink whiskey or beer at home, but even then no fast food makes no sense.

The random events aren't really random though they're always in the same places, as I put it semi-random the event itself is random but not where so it's not that random.

Was spamming that up the top half of the map because when you die in the sort of logging area then drive down from the hospital there's like literally always a semi-random event and 9 times out of 10 it's an armoured truck.
Same with a few other places, almost always an armoured truck, if not all you have to do is drive round the block until there is one.

I miss going on dates in it those were funny but in GTA V all it is is phone them then you have sex.
Trevor made friends with some crazy lady so I thought I'd go hang out with her but all he said was "clear up your schedule, I'm horny" and then my innocent mind was ruined.

I feel like they added a lot more to the game, without overdoing it. It's just so much you can do and keep the original concept abay. I admit they could have added the whole dating thing again, especially with Franklin and Trevor.

I think it's super-fun that you can actually can run into for instance Michael and Franklin if you play as Trevor. I did this with Franklin when I hit Trevor's car in traffic. He just responded "We gotta keep you on a leash, Frank". It was super funny.

Beat AC4 last night, so now I can give my full opinion on it.

@Steve; Desmond /sorta/ is in it. Without saying much, just remember what his faith in AC3 was and that is proven in AC4, although on the sly.

On the game as a whole. It's way better than AC3, I feel. Hunting animals isn't as good but hell, you get to tango with crocs, all crocodile Dundee style, so what's not to like. There's lots of stuff to do that you have to find out yourself. Like you can go harpooning for one, etc etc.

The ship is of course back in earnest but you suffer a lot if you don't have a beast of a ship by the end of the game's final mission. In fact you won't be able to even start it unless you can take out some really tough SOB's preventing you from making landfall. The map is huuuge so there's lots of places to explore. Your 'brotherhood' has been recycled into something else, and while I won't say what you get instead, it's easy to guess given the theme of the game.

About that, too. I loved the fact that you had a more care-free, don't-give-a-damn-and-do-what-I-want sort of ancestor to play as. Edward Kenway has far more appeal than Connor, despite being ambitious. The ending of the game is heart-warming for once, with the conclusion of the penultimate scene before the epilogue amusing me a lot simply for Edward's reaction.

Although, lots of stuff doesn't make sense then (no surprises there). But you get some subtle cameos and minor appearances from past game chars. (both in the ancestor's times and the present day)The mind-wtfery is still there too although it takes a while for that to get up and going.

Haven't played online yet but I've enjoyed playing this game enough to consider going for the platinum. But there's a high level multiplayer trophy to snag so that might be a pain. 100% syncing, thankfully, seems to be such easier. I managed to get about 3/4 of the story missions synced in my first playthrough without any help so yeah.

Looking forward to playing it on my ps4 in the near future, haha. And that damn PS+ thing. It annoyed me so much considering I forked out €75 for a collector's edition of AC3 a few months back.

Yeah PS+ makes it so hard to decide whether or not to buy games since they could be free quite soon after if there are no other decent games around >.>

I was just trying to sell my AC3 and then it was put on PS+ so everyone could get it for free anyway -_-

How do you mean the guy is care free now, can you kill civilians without desynchronizing? Because I often do that accidentally and ruin a whole mission, it's so annoying.

Multiplayer trophies <_<
Dammit.
I wish more story driven games would cut that out, a few is fine but with AC it's always s*** like get to max level, be bottom of the leaderboard then get to the top in the last 10 seconds of a match...f*** you bro, f*** you!
Some of them are nearly impossible unless you have decent connection which makes them purely luck based.

Are you going to check multiplayer out? 3's was god awful.
There were hardly any NPC's going around and they were all different so you could never blend in with a bunch of guys that look like you which is pivotal in most of the game modes.
Especially pivotal at the start when you don't have any abilities to disguise yourself, it was really stupid.

Lastly...does it seem like there'll be a sequel?
I hope not...

It's kind of good for me. When a game I own comes up for free on PS+ I tend to flog it. Hell I traded in my Jak & Daxter HD game and another, DS one and managed to get AC4 for €10 on launch day so I was pretty chuffed about that.

Nope That's still there. I meant it more so for the fact that he decides what course of action to take next, at least for most of the game anyway.

At least make them optional. It's utterly annoying that they're part of the set required for a plat, as, like you said, not everyone has a fast and/or reliable connection.

Yeah, I probably will, but I'm not found of AC's multiplayer. Brotherhood's was fine, Revelations I passed on and AC3 was just bogus. First time I played it after the tutorial some douched killed me within 10 seconds and a few more seconds after that, the session ended, I was like wtf.

I can't see where they'd take the series next, but the present day story seems to let on that there'll be more. In contrast, the ancestor story seemed pretty much self-contained, and in the epilogue it moved on a few years to show a young Haytham in the same theatre with 'Daddy' and co that was seen previously in ac3.

Honestly, the way Abstergo is pitched in ac4 is quite fourth-wall breaking, in a sense. Ubisoft have tried something new this time, and understandably so, considering...y'know....Desmond...

But oh! If you've ever played Prototype, there's lots of sneaky information to uncover that's in the style of Prototype's Web Of Intrigue -- sound recordings, pictures, letters, etc that reveal some interesting stuff and connects back with previous games, Revelations -- modern story -- in particular.

I think if they're going to continue the series they should just do it, full on change the format of the games, third person shooter style with elements of melee combat still.

Imagine how cool it would be if you played as some crazy guy in WWi or II?
Sneaking around in the dark taking out Nazi's and whoever else.
Or you could be some Red Beret guy in the Vietnam war doing similarly crazy s*** for some odd purpose.

Obviously switch from Desmond stuff but have it tie in somehow.

A huge change but they can't cover every sword based battle in history and if they keep moving forward it's going to be dumb having an assassin with a sword taking on soldiers with automatic or semi-automatic weapons.
And also in doing that you could make the non Desmond descendant play a better role, Abstergo guys could use guns then and you could still fight them effectively since guns are a part of the game.

It's beyond BS that soldiers in this world altering organization only use stun batons and stuff.

I think that would be great if they done it right, imagine being an assassin storming the beach at Normandy, using Eagle Vision to stay out of the line of fire and find your high value targets to help cripple the enemy armies from their command lines.
Maybe an assassin made it look like Hitler killed himself.
And with the whole sync thing it could be that the assassin operated in such a way that nobody knew he existed so history today knows nothing.
It could work, it's just the same as regular AC but not as far back.

Do you guys know any good screen-capturing programs other than Fraps?

I recorded a short clip for a friend to show him how to do something on a game, but it's like f***ing 1GB big almost for only 27 seconds, and it's going to take more than two hours to upload on YT...

With fraps you need to compress the files down after recording.

I use movie maker to do this because it was already on my pc and does what I need it to. Which is shrink videos down to more manageable sizes.

You could try Bandicam or Dxtory.

There's also a program called Camtasia, but I don't recommend that for games other than emulators.

Total Recorder was a screen capture I tried out recently when looking into other recorders. But I mainly record from a capture card, and Cyberlink's PowerDirector 9, which came with this laptop and luckily enough is compatible with my particular capture card, so yeah.

Got most of the trophies for AC now, but the attraction is starting to wear off. About to do the naval missions next and maybe take on the legendary ships, but I envision I'll be dying a lot then. Still haven't tried multiplayer (honestly, I'm afraid to) but the only off-line trophies that I need to get is the 100% sync (I'm at 76 % already) and the remaining ship related ones.

I was giving ACIII 100% a good go.

And then I found out uncovering all of the map is part of it.

When it's not clear if you've went over by any part of it, just landmarks.

WHY!?

Why did these assassins travel EVERYWHERE in the past? What reason would they have to go round running errands for absolutely everyone, and climbing every frickin tree, damn annoying.

Just beat Tales of Xillia on hard, feeling purrrty awesome.
Last fight was a constant battle of ever changing strategy...for half an hour...
Failed a few times too so really like 2+ hours.
