Okay, guys. Lesbehonest. I just moved into college last Thursday, and today was my first day of classes. I've spent Thursday to yesterday afternoon with a group of upperclassmen who were our camp counselors, and they've told me the in's and out's of my certain campus, but what are some college things that you would suggest for anyone going into their freshman year?? I've heard "GET INVOLVED" like a million and one times, and I'm actually going over to SAO (Student Activities Office) tomorrow to sign up for a few clubs and stuff, so I'm good on that one. It's a no smoking, dry campus, so no partying (plus I'm 18 and I don't plan on ruining my music scholarship because I got drunk at some party and my professors somehow found out because they're like that). Some (legal) things that are fun, entertaining, and something that only college kids can do.

GO.

I have, actually! Lol. I'm going to look into what all I need to do to get on the volleyball team here. They're all conference champs ;)

Yo

When I went to University I moved into a student house and dropped out before actually going in, as I had a change of heart.

I still had a lot of the experience though as all my friends were students and the student lounge was on campus, plus I used all their facilities because I had a student card :)

I'm not sure how it is where you are based but this place had events like "take me out" and other similar events to get students to mix.

You have a lot of freedom initially to do things you've always wanted to do (martial art, sport, craft etc) as a lot of these things will have night classes in University, even learn a new language.

I may not deserve to live, but I will protect those in my reach with my reverse blade!

Not getting drunk in college is like going out to eat and not eating.

Have fun. Make mistakes. Study.

I graduated recently enough from college and the only thing I regret is not signing up for the anime club and also getting a degree I'm not using yet.

Vague and cliché, but make the most out of it -- both socially and academically.

I'm kind of sad that my time as an undergraduate is over. I mean it might not be the end of university life if I do postgraduate s***, but it won't really be the same since I won't be having stupid drunken nights -- or at least nowhere near as many.

Time seriously does go by quickly; you'll be graduating before you know it and thinking about what the f*** you want to do next. I can still remember my first term three years ago.

As Buu mentioned above really, just enjoy yourself.

Main things to remember is try and get your work done on time, and should you have a free weekend, then why not head out to a party or something? Just make sure its on a neutral day (friday/saturday night) giving you Sunday to recover hah. Drinking may not be what you normally do, and hey you don't have to get wasted, but it is a good way of socialising and meeting new people.

I've got a free weekend this weekend. I still don't know many people who are the "party" type, and my roommate is going home this weekend because she lives less than an hour away. So any suggestions to do?

I'm in Fort Smith, Arkansas.. Idk if you know of it, but it's a pretty sketchy town. The people here suggest that if you do go off campus, to be in a car with your doors locked, and to not stop anywhere.. Soooooo.......

I'm actually just going to go home tomorrow after my last class. I miss my girl way too much :'(

For me the "get involved" part was going to every party I heard about, and going to the clubs and bars. Thats how I met all my friends.

Yeahh, keep doing your thing, yo. Just remember, you gotta have a certain structure for yourself, like keep a balance between your studies and "social" life. Thats how I survived. If we all just study, study, study..etc, it'll drive us insane and plus, its proven to be unhealthy.

Well it's not really studying that's unhealthy. It's the habits you get into while studying that's bad for health (eating s***loads of junk, pumping your body full of caffeine, forgetting to eat/drink, being unsociable, etc.).

A 15-25 minute break is enough to prevent cognitive overload -- which is probably the only bad thing about studying for too long.
