Crazy Awesome Legend

So there's a bit of a debate happening here at the moment about fracking. If you don't know what it is then this basic guide should give you some clues.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydraulic_fracturing

Oil and coal is running out. Plus they are heavy pollutants. We need to do something to maintain our energy needs for the future. Is this the right way to go about it? There are legitimate concerns about the negative effects from fracking. Are they bad enough that we shouldn't use this technique? Especially considering what little alternatives there are to chose from.

It seems like every alternative to oil and coal is met with harsh criticism. Perhaps for good reason sometimes. I can't say I know much about fracking to be honest. It seems like a smart way to retrieve much needed gas from the ground. But I am concerned about the problems it could create. Earthquakes, water contamination, air pollution and even radiation are plausible. I'm still on the fence with this until we get some hard evidence that it causes major problems. Of course by then it might be too late.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

So basically it's like shooting water through a dirty tube then sucking the water back up to collect the dirt? But instead of dirt hydrocarbons?

That sounds really quite dangerous says water, sand and chemicals so it's possible something underground could react to that?
It's also lightly destroying the foundations of tectonic plates I'd imagine, if this was done all around the world it could cause major disasters over time.

Plus poisonous gas not sure what the safety precautions are like but what would happen if some kind of gas as dangerous as hydrogen cyanide were released?

I think the best thing we can do is limit our population a lot more so we don't burn through everything before finding a better solution. Ultimately bringing our end upon us quicker by breeding and spreading out so much.

Other than that solar seems to be the best bet.
Solar lasers could work, satellites in geostationary orbit that gather enrgy round the clock and fire it in to machines that can absorb and convert it...though like all solutions that's dangerous, though extremely renewable.
Not sure how much energy that would really yield though.

Fracking is a big topic in the UK at the moment and It does have some "supposed" effects.

Personally I'm in two minds about it, as 1: You'd think they would rule all this stuff out before they start, for environmental concearns. But on the other hand (2:), do governments really give a damn and just want to make/save money?

I think the main idea is not how much energy it creates, but how much cheaper it makes to provide "gas"/energy to the contra its found in, as an example the reason the UK pays so much is because we have our gas from Russia/Europe I believe. So if we farmed it in the UK, it wouldnt cost the country as much to purchase/sell etc.

Frack off, it's not worth the risk.

Had to start with that, my apologies, carry on.
