Hi guys, new to the forum. I know there is a similar thread to this so apologies. I was a big DBZ fan when I was growing up and I've started watching DBZ Kai recently and it's got my back into the series so I've decided to buy one of the games. After a bit of research myself I've decided I should either go for the Budokai HD Collection for my 360, Raging Blast 2 for my 360, or Budokai Tenkaichi 3 for my Wii. I'm yet to see any positive feedback for Ultimate Tenkaichi so I've sort of ruled that out, unless one of you feels it is the better game, then feel free to say. I want the game that will have the best gameplay but will also provide a good storyline in connection to the series, so if it's a toss up between two of the games for the gameplay, but one of them has a much better storyline, then I'd want to go for the latter. With that in mind, which game would you guys suggest I go for? Thanks for any feedback. |

It basically comes down to whther or not you like side to side esque fighting or behind the fighter fighting. Basically this comes down to Budokai HD collection and BT3. I'd say go with the Budokai HD collection because not only do you get IMO a better fighting game, you also get two games in one. Budokai 1 (goes up to the cell saga, but has animated cutscenes) you also get Budokai 3 (as far as i remember goes from BODBZ to the end of the fight with Omega Shenron.) |

Thanks for the reply. In terms of BT3's huge character list, is there anybody on there that isn't on Budokai 3 that would make or break the decision on which game to get? Or are most of BT3's added characters just ones that aren't really needed? |

BT3 has an amazing character list, it's simply so big becuase the have characters from DB, DBZ and DBGT, they've got characters that you don't see in any other game: Pure Evil buu, Nuova and Eis Shenron, Super 17, General Blue, Mercenary Tao. I used to have it on my PS2 but I sold it along with my PS2, now I have a PS3 with both the HD Collection and RB2, And I love most of them so far, however I only love Budokai HD because it gives me nostaligic feelings, I used to play Budokai 1, 2 and 3 when I was a little kid, that's why I like it, if you want a serious more recent game I'd go for Raging Blast 2, amazing graphics, nice gameplay, not too complicated, and even though there's no DB or DBGT it stil has an amazing collection of characters, almost every DBZ Character, a lot of movie villains: Turles, Broly, Android #13, #14, #15, Bojack, Zangya, Cooler, Meta Cooler, Cooler's Armored Squad, Super Janemba, Harchiyack, heck you even have people such as Tarble, Pikkon, Nail, Videl and Future Gohan, on top of that there are 2 what if characters: SSJ3 Vegeta and SSJ3 Broly. I'd go for RB2 unless you really want to experience some nostalgia or if you don't mind not playing on PS3/XBox 360 |

Cheers for the reply. I decided to go with the HD Collection. I prefer the side to side style fighting games anyway, and also I was unsure if the Galaxy Mode that RB2 has reflected the story mode at all or if it was just random battles. Thanks for the help guys. |

I have just recently jumped on the band wagon and gotten RB2 because some people were raving about how great it is. It's a definite improvement over Ultimate Tenkaichi, but to say it's great is a gross over-statement. As for the game concept as a whole, it's still pretty lame as far as I'm concerned. Budokai 3 was the last good-to-excellent DBZ game (BT3 was pretty good too), and unless they re-introduce a free-range mode and or a skill shop where you can actually buy character abilities, I don't think we'll truly get great games anytime soon. I have both (B1/B3 Collection and RB2). If you like pretty graphics, RB2 is the game. If you like to be entertained with plots and have some actual fun by flying around the world, than B1/B3 is the game to get. |

They've tried to reflect it to the story as much as possible, Goku for instance has matches against Vegeta, Freeza, Cell, Kid Buu, Broly, Cooler, Turles, etc. But for some characters it doesn't reflect the story because it's simpyl not possible: Take someone like Dodoria for instance, he got attacked by Kid Gohan, that could be a match, he also fought Vegeta, that's a second match, but other than that Dodoria did nothing so they put in some What If matches such as: Dodoria vs Freeza, I like how it's not just the same DBZ story we have in every other game, People always complain there's not enough 'what-if'so Banai created Galaxy Mode and everybody says it's stupid because it's not the story they're used to, so Bandai answers with: Alright, I gues from now on it's gonna be the same old BS again over and over, forget about Gokhan, Tiencha, Cellza, or anything like that, because people are going to complain anyway! |
