Crazy Awesome Legend

In many episodes of Star Trek: the Next generation and the film First Contact, Data was shown to be far stronger than any Borg. The Borg also did not posses any weapons during their encounters. So I wonder why they didn't just sent Data aboard the Borg vessels on his own? He was shown to be able to one hit kill them. It would take about 50 of them at once just to drag him down. It seems many lives were lost because of the crew's ignorance about Data's combat abilities. I'm pretty sure he could have soloed most of the other missions not related to Borg as well. There's an episode which proves just how powerful he is when he goes rogue and single handedly commandeers the ship. Why the heck do they ever bother to go with him on away missions? He'd have probably done a much better job solo without anyone in his way too.

"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the war room!"

It's well known that Borg adapt quickly.

They'd learn how to counter Data's combat style and moves, as well as simulate his strength. They're able to adapt to phaser fire fairly quickly, and can resist stronger charges. I assume they'd be able to adapt to physical power as well.
