WILKESBORO, N.C. -- A man in Wilkesboro was arrested after police say he threw pizza at a woman in his home.

Police were called to an apartment complex in the 1200 block of Industrial Park Road for a domestic disturbance Sunday, shortly after midnight.

The investigating officer said Cody Sebastian Parsons began cursing at the woman when he fell on the wet apartment floor while attempting to answer the door and threw pizza at her.

The woman ran into a neighbor's apartment and Parsons followed, beating on the neighbor's door, according to the police department.

When police arrived Parsons denied throwing pizza, but the responding officer said there was pizza sauce on the back of the woman's shirt and found pieces of pizza all over their living room floor.

Police said Parsons passed out several times after he was taken into custody.

The police report indicates Parsons was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Parsons was charged with Assault on a Female and was taken to the detention center.

Hmm, I didn't know "assault on a female" was a specific crime or a type of aggravated assault.

Weird things like this happens all the time, at least no one was seriously injured.

Arrested for assaulting someone by throwing a pizza. I laughed. She probably acted like she was beaten brutally too.

.....

"Assault on a female"? Really, that's actually a separate crime? That has to be phrased wrong surely? Why would you even need it when assault takes in to account things like difference in gender (if it's relevant) as it is?

Anyway, while it's a bit of a weird one this does fall under assault. Depending on your jurisdiction assault doesn't even need to be physical anyway, making her scared enough that she'd have to run to someone else's apartment is enough.

Not getting that bit...so he was alone and she came to the door then he threw pizza at her after he fell on the floor?
But why was pizza all over "their" living room floor if she wasn't already in the apartment...
Does seem to be worded kind of weird

What a waste of pizza.

How is that an assault?
Quote:

A person who strikes, touches, or moves, or otherwise applies force of any kind to the person of another, either directly or indirectly, without his consent, or with his consent if the consent is obtained by fraud, or who by any bodily act or gesture
attempts or threatens to apply force of any kind to the person
of another without his consent, under such circumstances that the person making the attempt or threat has actually or apparently a present ability to effect his purpose, is said to assault that other
person, and the act is called an assault

Throwing something at someone and then, importantly, following them and banging on the door of another apartment all the while cursing at them would be part of the bolded part. Now that's just where I live to constitute assault, but as far as I know most common law countries (which includes the US) would have a similar definition.

I think the true reason that the man was arrested was for wasting a good slice of pizza. Who wastes pizza? A person who should be in jail, that's who.

No, him throwing the pizza is an assault and punishable by law. It's like throwing a punch, you're going to get in trouble for it.

It's all marketing, go with a catchy heading and you'll get views. People target these sort of things with bias language and such to attempt it to go viral.

Really it's just an average story that people are trying to get some money off.

Those who know Cracked go check out their article on detecting internet BS. For obvious reasons not going to link it here ;)
