Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

I haven't really watched the series but seen a few Star Trek movies(old and new)

Honestly I think it's a lot better than Star Wars, don't really see why everyone raves about episodes IV-VI they're not that great imo. Most of the time it just seems like people are defending what they grew up with, whether it's good or not.

Can't beat a bit of Leonard Nimoy, Patrick Stewart and George Takei plus William Shatner.

Meanwhile...who are any of the actors in the old Star Wars and where are they now? None of the actors were that great you're just forced to believe they were because terrible is all you've got.
Other than Vader, Ewan MacGregor and Liam Neeson.

Mark Hamill does voice acting work. He was fantastic as the Joker in the Batman cartoons.

Most of the actors in the original trilogy are dead but actually a lot of them were very good British actors such as Peter Cushing and Alec Guinness.

I much prefer Star Trek. I just find it more interesting and their technology progresses over the years too. Which is pretty cool actually.

I like both. However, admittedly the older Star Trek films had underlying themes rather than just simply good vs. evil. I don't really care much for the TNG movies onwards.

Hellooooo? What about Harrison Ford??? Let's just forget about the guy who actually went on to be a movie star. lol

But yeah, I don't get the hype. I've tried watching the television series and find it silly. I did, however, really enjoy the latest two movies that came out.

Always an exception to the rule ;)

I started watching Star Trek: TOS one day, because I was bored. I found it very intriguing, but not so much the plot or the enviroment of the series, because that was pretty similar to Star Wars. It was the actors and the interactions between them. Especially Kirk, Spock and Bones. An unforgettable trio.

But as mentioned before, it's not just about good vs evil. It also has this mystery to it, and they explore different aspects of fantasy. Time-travel, absurdity, alien societies and whatnot.

The Next Generation is my favourite. So many great characters. Data, La Forge, Picard, Worf, Q, The Borg ect. Awesome theme tune too. Same for Deep Space 9. Neither series really got going until their 3rd or 4th seasons to be honest but when they did, man they were great. Voyager was ok I suppose. It had some boring main characters and a lot of the aliens they met all looked and dressed the same except for ridges in different places on their faces. Enterprise had some good ideas and effects for its time but it's production values felt very dated.

The original series hasn't dated very well. The effects are laughable and so is the acting. The only good thing about it are some of the storylines which I personally believe to be way ahead of their time.

I like the films Star Trek 2, 3, First Contact, the remake and the newest one they've done.

Agree on the effects (it is the 60s, after all), but the acting is still some of the best I've seen. Not all of it, mind you, but lots of it. Back then it was so genuine. Only a few older actors can pull that off nowadays, and I can count on one hand how many younger ones can.

The only decent actors in the whole show were Deforest Kelly, Leonard Nimoy and Walter Keonig. Except for one episode I saw where these women were using a drug to make themselves seem more attractive. One of the women was really good in my opinion. Everyone else was meh at best. William Shatter was awful. He could never find the balance between over acting and under acting. The Futurama characters Calculon and Zap Brannigan seem heavily based on him.

That's why I love him. Because of his acting. He was such a trooper. He made the stage his.

People like Star Trek because it's fulled with cool futuristic technology and human-looking aliens.

What's not to love?

I actually like the characters more than anything else and how they deal with problems. Space battles and phaser fights are always cool though.
