Why did Mike Tyson lose to Buster Douglas?

Buster Douglas was quite a good boxer but he wasn't exactly world class looking at his record. What was going on With Mike Tyson at that time for him to lose to somebody who was essentially just a good journeyman?

Did he have anger issues and problems with his trainers and management? Was it around this time that he started going off the rails? What was going with him? He should have taken this guy out within 3 rounds just like Holyfield did.

Tyson had problems even before the fight, he was knocked down during Sparring. If you watch the Fight, you can see that Tyson wasn't him self, from the first round there he wasn't as aggressive as usual. I also remember Tyson saying in a recent Interview, that he lost his passion for Boxing around 1990.

I remember watching a documentary and when interviewed he said that the fame and everything got to his head and that his coach or trainer had said "never have sex before a fight" and apparently he was having sex left and right and had been slacking in his training and had lost his passion.

It’s like, you’ve got the whole world and Earth and all its holy creations, right? And God is like, Hmm, lookit, my whole world in all its holy ways, and he’s like, Oh-my-me-oh-sh**, I left weed in here. Yeah right, I left weed in here. Oh, shouldn’t have smoked that joint on the third day.”

Well to my knowledge Tyson was mentally out of the game of Boxing, he had troubles with his Wife at the time, Divorce looming, and honestly he didn't have anyone like Cus to take him by his shoulder and talk to him, when he had tough times. So he didn't take the fight seriously, and he lose, and it wasn't long before he was sent off to Jail for that false conviction.I wished he had Cus in his corner, when Cus was so much younger, because he was 13 or 14 when he met Cus, but he was very old at the time.If he had Tyson at a younger age, Tyson would of been a way better fighter.

Perhaps if Tyson had stayed clear of Don King, things may have been better too?
