Can girls become Super Saiyans?

It was never said in the series, but it seems as if they can't. Pan seemed like the only one who had a chance and it wasn't because she was 1/4th Saiyan as Goku Jr was even less Saiyan and easily achieved Super Saiyan. Do you guys think that girls can achieve this form?

Not in Akira's universe, as he doesn't want to design it. :P but in all seriousness, it would make less sense for them not to be able to.

I reckon they can. In Dragon Ball Z there just weren't any female Saiyans around, and GT was just plain terrible IMO.

I reckon Bra would have an even better chance than Pan, with her being half Saiyan.

Toriyama couldn't come up with a logical design for a female Super Saiyan, that's the reason why he didn't make Pan one. However, that doesn't mean that girls can't become Super Saiyans.

It's stated in the GT Perfect Files that females can indeed transform, but the right conditions were never met for the ones we witnessed (Pan, Bra). Nothing would contradict the ideal that they'd be able to even within Toriyama's original work either.

This is true though. The reason there never was one was because he was picky on his character designs and he never could figure what a female SSJ would look like.

Edit: Oops, other people spoke

Pan and Bulla should've been able to do it, the right conditions just didn't present themselves

Super Saiyan among Super Saiyans

Pan could've achieved SSJ, were it not for her father Gohan.

A good theory could be that she inherited the "ultimate gene" ,as it were, from Gohan.

It would explain why she's more powerful than SSJ Trunks and SSJ Goten in supposed base... IIRC that is, not a big fan of GT to be honest.

Of course this theory doesn't have much stock considering Gohan magically has SSJ again.
We Super Saiyans are in a league of our own.

That's the theory I always believed. Gohan regaining SSJ was after Pan's birth so it doesn't disprove the theory.

And Bra wasn't even a fighter so there goes that option.

Gohan never lost his Super Saiyan transformations, so Pan not able to transform because of Gohan is out of question...

On topic, pretty sure that they didn't had design for SSJ Pan and that they didn't see SSJ as neaded form since they make Base > SSJ all the time...

Gohan never lost his Super Saiyan transformations
I don't know if that's true, considering that Rou Dai Kaioshin told him to "Go Super Saiyan" when the Ritual was finished, which ended up resulting in his "Ultimate" form. And regardless of this, there is no "proof" of a Super Saiyan gene. That's fan speculation.

Regardless, even if Gohan did still have SSj forms, they wouldn't serve a purpose. Super Saiyan is drawn from hidden ki reserves, but he has none left because they've all been opened.
The SSj transformations would only result in him losing ki from the transformations themselves.

Yes it's true. BoG shows that Gohan can power up to Mystic and transform in SSJ...

Btw Old kai told him for gist of Super Saiyan, not to transform in one...
