Goku: “There wasn’t anybody on par with me in the afterlife…” Chapter: 428 (DBZ 234), P7.5 South Kaio: “In my South Area, there’s an amazingly strong guy called Papoi! Compared to him, a guy like [Goku] is noo—oothing special!” Note: South Kaio seems to change his mind after seeing Goku as a Super Saiyan, of course. Is South Kai just lying that Papoi is stronger than base Goku? Probably yeah, but perhaps he could be maybe close to him? Possibly? Maybe Androids or Future Androids level? Chapter: 428 (DBZ 234), P7.1-3 Context: South Kaio watches Goku train with some weights South Kaio: “So he’s Son Goku, huh? The one said to have the #1 or #2 power in the North Area…Fufufufun…How much are those weights he’s wearing?” Why is Goku referred to as having the #1 or #2 power? Shouldn't it be clear that he's the strongest? Edited by IllogicalGlory, Jul 26 2013, 07:56 PM.

Taking the SSJ3 or even the SSJ into account no one is par with him. |

Yeah, but he gives that as a reason for not being able to try fusion. Why couldn't he fuse with that guy #2 guy (whoever South is referring to there) or Papoi? They shouldn't be far from his base power. |

He should still be able to since he could suppress if he was the strongest as Base. Plot hole in my eyes.

Size also matters in fusion dance. That could be one of the reasons why Goku couldn't fuse with anyone (in power and size/high)... |

Can South Kaio sense power? Or does he just go off appearances?

I think he gauged Goku based on him doing training with two ton weights. |

Wouldn't that be physical strength, then? |

I guess so, but if their physical strength is on par, shouldn't their ki be as well? |

I wouldn't assume that to be the case. |

1 or 2 ... Who is to say they haven't been told about Gokus past? Gohan and Vegeta may very well be known by the Kai's at least by word of mouth, sort of like Shin knows about them in general. Earth has the stonest collection of powers in the universe as Frieza was thought to be the standard along with his dad and the Ginyus In filler its clear though, Goku had far surpassed all of other world, thus Yamcha and Krillin being needed. Back to topic though, it should be a known fact that since Olibu and Pikkon are filler Toei created characters, that the north is a rare case. Before only Yemma had been noted to train with the Kai. Fast forward and there have been 5 people to keep their bodies in canon and train with king Kai, after traveling snake way which is probably a lot Edited by Kblo247, Jul 26 2013, 10:37 PM.

Papoi wasn't mentioned until the month leading up to the tournament, and Goku didn't actually hear about him, only King Kai did. |

People forget that "strength" in the DBverse isn't a direct reference to actual physical power. Skill and tactical ingenuity factor into this as well. Papoi may have been as strong as Goku in base, but that doesn't mean that he'd be a challenge on a skill level to him. |

Physical strength has a limit. Strength in general does not. Papoi could be physically stronger than Goku, but nowhere near his level of power. |

I'm a little bit confused here. Who the hell is Papoi LOL? Is that supposed to be Pui-Pui? |
