Hi everybody, I'm working on revisiting the character of Vegeta of Dragon Ball for my Dissertation in 3D games modelling. Those are the concepts I've done and I'd like to have some feedback before to start the modelling process. I've spent a lot of time trying to achieve the right design for this character, the aim was to make it real, cool, and actual while preserving the core soul of the original prince of the Sayan. To make you an example I've tried to do the same Kind of work that has been done with Superman in Man of Steel. All the pieces of my design follow the principle of "function" it means that everything is there for a purpose and nothing is left totally to the pure aesthetics. The energy detector for example has been removed because it has really no sense, Vegeta is a space warrior and he needs a proper mask that allows him to breathe on other planets. So tell me what you think about it, if you like it or not and why, also if you could point out which one of the combinations of colors you do like more for the combat suit will be great! Thanks guys your feedback is precious. ![]() ![]() 1 ![]() 2 ![]() 3 ![]() 4 ![]() 5 ![]() 6 ![]() 7

Before i begin: The following comments are my personal oppinions. Firstly the design looks good. However: From the original story vegeta is portraited as a bratty prince. The same goes for his clothing. When i look at the models you have made, i cannot make a connection to DBZ. The model you have made, looks like something you would not see vegata wearing even if it meant death. The model looks like something taken out from a Halo game. _____ However if i dont connect this to DBZ, the idea is pretty cool and the models are interesting, just not for dbz. So final verdict: Awsome work, i like the models, i just dont think they fit the genre you aimed for. If the original DBZ story had simular models, it would not have cought my interest. Also i dont understand whats up with the armor, at first glance it looks like a more... special... model of gohans superhero costume, which vegate strongly opposed. |

I enjoy what you have presented. Even though you have stated as such; it is painfully obvious how heavily influenced you have been by the Man of Steel armor designs. This is not necessarily a bad thing. In my opinion: #1: The Mask It serves no purpose in the DBZ Universe [as shown by the fact that no one requires one]... but if you wanted to be more "realistic" as you have said, replace it with a retractable helmet/mask/respirator with far less "glass". This option would be much more practical for battle. #2: The Colors An adaption of the original color scheme would be far more appropriate. If I had to choose one of the options presented, I would go with #6's armor coloring... but would make the "spandex" a lot more blue. #3: The Shoulder Pads/Extensions Although I am not against having the shoulder pads [as it ties to the original design quite nicely], I would love to hear the functional benefits of said pads. I look forward to seeing a few redesigns. |

Thanks for your intelligent feedback. I can understand what you say because I said the same thinks myself. At the beginning I was going to do a complete armour with a proper helmet, it makes Vegeta too different from the original. I decided then to cover only the most important parts of the body trying to follow the line of the original distribution of the suit on the body of the original Sayan. I used a mask for breathing and not a full helmet because it lets the hair to be visible that is the most important thing for making him recognizable. I know protecting head is more important than protecting the rest of the body but we can't renounce to Vegeta's hair. John Maeda teach that there are moments in which things can’t be simplified, in those case you have to make it complex. The solution to this issue is to rethink the hair of Vegeta as the source of his power as the tail is (with the tail I had the same issue). If the hair and tail of Vegeta became the way of canalize energy to left them uncovered starts to make sense. The shoulder pads have only a formal purpose they can be considered as a rank marker as well as for the cape and the rigid elements placed at the side of the legs are. Apart from the cape that is a removable item, the other two do not give problems in movement so can be integrated to the armour as they are a strong link to the original suit. As a conclusion I would like to specify that there is no connection between my concepts and Men of Steel, I would have to but the suit of Superman was too thin while the one of Zod was too rigid and fat. I inspired more to Metal Gear Rising combat suits as they are very light and free in movements and I guess it is evident unfortunately. Thanks again for your feedback, hope you to reply me again.
