Am I the only one who feels he seems much more "mystic" in the manga as opposed to the anime? At least in his real form, he's more mysterious and godlike. Maybe it's the lack of talking every 5 seconds but he's much more badass regardless. Who else thinks this?

I reckon so too. The anime had a bad habit of drawing things out more that it should IMO.

Freeza was awesome in the manga. I got sick of him very quickly in the anime.

And that line where he said something like "I am worse than death itself" seemed much more legit in the manga. He didn't toy around, much like Cooler.

Speaking of which, think of how fearsome Cooler would've been in the manga.

Cooler was basically the bigger, more badass version of Freeza.

Depends on the scene. The ominous music really helps create an atmosphere in the anime that's lacking in the manga. Especially Freeza's Kai theme.

Kai themes = pure win.

I am Always Right... Unless When I'm Wrong

Just one of those instances where the manga is better than the anime.

Regardless of the music, his voice and dialogue is irritating.

Linda Young perhaps, Chris Ayres gives a much more faithful voice that we'd expect from Freeza's original Japanese Seiyuu, Ryûsei Nakao.

It's only Young who gave him that raspy, old woman's voice with terrible dialogue with none of the suave or charisma that the Nakao had...why they kept it all the way up until Kai is beyond me.

I liked Kai Freeza quite a bit, probably because he was voiced by a guy.

Linda Young was the best Baba, though.

I think Frieza was cooler in the manga because we could imagine how his voice sounds like, unlike in the Funimation dub where his voice just sounds....funny and I cant take him too seriously + his lines were just so mutch better and the fact that he didnt talk as mutch was great.

When I saw the anime I thought Frieza was cool, when I read the manga I was afraid of him.

Yup, I liked Chris Ayres' portrayal of Freeza more than Linda Young. Why Funimation would choose a woman to do Freeza's voice in the first place is incomprehensible. It's fine with younger boys, like Gohan and Goku, but it seemed wrong on a villain like Freeza.

As for topic; I think filler helped portray Freeza in a more... childish manner, so to speak. DB Kai did a good job with Freeza imo. Obviously the manga trumps.

Chris Ayres finally gave Freeza a dub voice I actually enjoyed listening to, though to be honest, when I read the manga, I always imagined Seth MacFarlane using stewie's voice when Freeza spoke.
