I think there's a flaw in this:
Quote:

The human role is for support, no one there expects them to take Goku’s place and fight individually. If there is a grave threat to the planet, they will group together for the sheer fact that they cannot escape their doom. Freeza’s arrival on Earth demonstrated that.

In that situation no one told them to stay home if they weren't strong enough. In this case there was at least two instances of people saying not to come if they don't think they could handle it.

Also Goku telling Krillin to head home in the Buu saga but not doing so here.

I know the humans can't be above Freeza due to Tien's line, but there's no real explanation for the "stay at home" *show up anyway* part.

Hm. Was there anything said in the actual Battle of Gods movie that supports Krillin being the strongest human?

@Clearin: Well, it's still clear that Krillin has no confidence. He states as much. The only one that could be argued to have an iota of confidence would be Ten.

Yeah I think it was stated he was the strongest earthling in BOG.

The training for the budokai might have increased his strength significantly assuming it was done with 18.

EDIT: Isn't uub the strongest earthling

Uub is and he isn't. Technically he is Kid Buu reincarnate but he lacks control over his power. Had Goku not made him angry anyone of the gang could beat him. Krillin was still technically the strongest with control of his full power to end Z. Uub had a higher ceiling and needed to be taught.

Got to remember they cut almost 20mins from the movie. Originally the humans were to be animated to fight. Then again the whole story was to center around Krillin and 18s wedding, and Billis to be a darker character, but Toriyama rewrote it to be db-esque

As for the Frieza part Clearin mentioned, the thing is double sided. 4 of them knew what they were going to. They had no qualms about a round 2, they wouldn't win, but they knew it better to face it than hide and have Frieza torch cities like he did villages. Yamcha followed Vegeta, not like he could stay back in front of Bulma, but he didnt want to be there. Tien and Chaozu went to where the powers gathered, curiosity, being brave, thinking it was Goku from a distance, all of the above but yeah they showed up

Cenet, Oob is a weird case. It's difficult to describe just what he is.

Uub is an Earthling by Daiz standards though. Not sure if that counts. Even then Krillin would still be the strongest introduced Earthling during BoG.

I suppose he would be. He's not Boo anymore, and he's not an alien. Daizenshuu 7 calls him a "human" specifically.
Daizenshuu 7

Enma Daio arranged for the evil, original Majin Buu to be reincarnated as this human. He looks like a young hick, raised on South Island. Though he's normally meek, the stupendously powerful Majin Buu is hidden inside him.
[1]

Though without his enraged power, he wouldn't be anything special.

As for Tenshinhan going to the Cell Games, he wanted to watch the fight(s). He wasn't intending on helping, or anything like that. Back at the lookout, he does say "I suppose we'll never see eachother again, so take care". Something like that. Indicating he wanted to disappear to train for himself (and Chaozu)

Even Piccolo knew he was trash compared to Cell, and he showed up. I think it became apparent by that time that the only people who mattered anymore were the Saiyans, two of which were also grouped as useless later in the Games.

They didnt matter but they still went to fight. I'm talking Krillin and Piccolo. It is what it is. Maybe a twinge of guilt for their parts in him becoming complete, but they still expected to compete until Goku went first

It's implied by Krillin's attitude toward Cell that he wasn't going to compete, and there isn't much to say Piccolo was going to compete either.

No. Nobody talked about fighting Cell except Vegeta and Goku.

What about this? He says we are, speaking of himself, Piccolo, Gohan, Trunks, and Goku ... They knew Vegeta was going to be there as would 16

The picture doesn't show up.

If you're talking about these two pages, then there is still no statement or indication that Krillin was going to fight, nor Piccolo. Goku is saying they simply shouldn't die due to the limitations of the new Dragonballs, and Krillin is protesting that "this is Cell we're talking about."

In the top panel of this page, the announcer asks Goku if they're all participating, and Goku says "most of us" (at least in Viz). Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Trunks, Piccolo, Krillin, No.16, Tenshinhan, Yamcha - nine fighters, so if you took the weakest out, it would clearly be Krillin, Tenshinhan, and Yamcha, and maybe even No.16. I'll allow Piccolo intending to fight, though it contradicts his and Goku's conversation on the Lookout, but Krillin, there's no way that could be supported.

EDIT: Well, looks like I addressed that regardless.

s***. My original post is too long. I can't add anymore to it. So for now, I'm just going to be sporadically adding onto the last section of it in my future posts, like so:
