I'm trying to get back into shape, as I've been a bit heavier/pudgier than I was normally used to. Its for a few reasons, mainly that to be generally more healthy, and hopefully to make a return to Pro Wrestling later in the year/early next year.

I was wondering if anybody else "Pumps Iron" and has any tips or anything? I'm not trying to get jacked or anything, but would like to look half decent hah.

So, does anybody go? What do you do? Do you take protein shakes etc?

No

might be best to find out if any of your friends workout and maybe ask if you can join them so they can teach you, plus you'll have someone to spot you making sure things dont go to s*** and if your form's going bonkers

protein shakes are good supplements along with a good eating plan. just make sure they're used as supplements and not as substitutes

I joined a gym and is was one of the best life choices that I ever made. I was so puny before that. Then with the help of protein shakes and regular weight exercises I was able to gain about 20 lbs. Make sure you keep it regular, cut out junk food like chocolate, cakes and alcohol and you should be fine.

I just got back from gym.

Best thing for you to do is to ask trainer in gym to make you training plan if you whant to loose weight.

Yes definitly use protein shakes after workout and if you whant to loose weight faster you nead to make good eating plan.

I may have to hit the gym in order to start losing some weight.

I was in great shape during school this year, however, as soon as the summer hit I got LAZY. Now i can see fat growing where my muscle used to be. Also im at a pretty unhealthy weight for my size and age.

I just do outside stuff to keep in shape, that way I don't have to pay anything. Climbing mountains, doing nature walks etc. keep me looking pretty lean.

I weigh 185 and I'm 5'10 I work out almost daily. My schedule is Monday: Upper Tuesday: Lower Wednesday: Break Thursday: Upper Friday: Lower Saturday: Cardio Sunday: Break. I use protein after on upper and Before on lower legs because You do heavier lifting on lower legs and your lower body thrives for more protein so if you give it beforehand it helps fuel the workout while your upper body will desire it afterwards. I always rotate my lift schedule and never do the same workouts everytime. Mix it up and do max weight lifting one day and one day do percentages and repetition. for example do 5 sets of 5 starting at 65% and go up 5% up each time of your max one day and one day to 3 sets of each lift starting at 85& and go to your max and on your last lift do as much as possible until you cant lift again. Mixing up your lifts is the most efficient way to tone up and lose weight.

Find a suitable strength program that you think you could be consistent with.
I would personally recommend 5x5 Stronglifts by Mehdi.
It's basically a variation on Starting Strength, you can find a well written summary online in pdf form for free, pm if you want a link.

0.8 grams of protein per pound of lean muscle mass while eating at a caloric surplus to put on weight or a deficit to lose weight and you're set to go.

I personally have to be careful in the gym because I've had a multitude of injuries to my legs and I have to be careful with them, I work out with a basic program based around compound lifts. I do take Protein powder but I tend to take it in a 'sludge' form or I bake it into cakes, banana bread, pancakes etc as I get bored easily.

I go to the gym as much as I can, which is usually at least three days a week. My friend/roommate works at the gym so that's a bonus, and my girlfriend also goes to the same gym. Each day I work out a different part of my body, maybe two parts at once some days.

My friend takes protein shakes and has basically a whole room dedicated to housing his supplements. I've had a few pre-workout drinks but not much beyond that. After a workout I consume a bunch of carbs and protein load, though.

As for workouts: should presses, bench presses, face pulls, tricep extensions, goodmornings, dead lifts, rows, incline bench presses, and a lot of others that I can't specifically recall at the moment.

I'm about to head to the gym right now actually. Auf Wiedersehen!

It takes a mere second for treasure to turn to trash.

My recommendation: whey protein and egg whites. Highest quality proteins with excellent bioavailability rates. I live far below poverty level so I don't have a Gym membership but just remember to never neglect cardio OR strength training. A lot of failure involves too much focus on one or the other.

4-5 days a week I go to the gym and work up a good sweat, and I always make sure to eat a good amount of protein before and after. I work out pretty much every part of my body, making sure to do a bit of cardio before a lot of weight lifting and work outs, and then some more cool down cardio before I leave. I've decided to start running a mile every weekend while the gym is closed as well.

You sound like you have an addiction problem lo.

I've been doing my running than anything lately just because I have some physical agility test coming that I have to maintain my ability to pass. From time to time (no schedule), I'll stop by the gym and...I don't take it as seriously as you do (which obviously results in less gain). I don't usually eat protein before OR after and depending on what I did that day I may skip the pre-lift cardio. I still make some gains but i could do so much better but I don't wan to get too strong because that would require too much dedication to maintain.

I use the gym with no schedule, on average once a week maybe, + jump rope and jogging. My gains are Haxed anyway.
