I think I've seen Kaboom make that analogy before.

Chapter: 132, P14.1
Kame-sennin: “... it fiercely depletes one’s own energy, …”

The Kamehameha also depletes your own energy. It's not Roshi's wrong, it's just that own energy refers to life force or life energy as he said in the anime.

As a throwback to real martial arts Kiai martial arts is supposed to be when you scream and your life force is at it's full. Very similar to Tien's attack if you ask me.

I got to ask this. Why the hell didnt Tien just fire the damn thing at 18 and 16 then if it could crush them? He would kill them before cell could ever get them. I wasnt like any of them even knew he was up there, so while cell was absorbing one he could have just killed them if he's that strong, right?

That's what we call Plot and Character Induced Stupidty.

Nothing should've stopped Tenshinhan from jumping up to Freeza, or No. 19, or No. 20 or the the cyborgs, etc and pounding the unbridled **** out of them until their smoking, desolated bodies are half-way buried into the Earth. It's the kind of thing where you know AT wasn't thinking and just made it up on the spot probably without much thought.

Well, the Kikoho does reduce your life-span.

There should still be an in-universe explanation if at all possible.

It depends if you think it's a Kiai attack or if it was pure power pushing Cell down. I personally think it's a Kiai so it's feat is meaningless, but if it was pure power then it would do heavy damage to even Android 16.
The Kikoho is not a Kiai Attack, Roshi described it in DB as a being even more powerful than the Kamehameha, and the Shin Kikiho is the advanced version. Goku was able to identify the Attack by sensing Tenshinhan Ki, so if the Shin Kikkoho has the same Energy signature as the Kikoho, then it probably has the same destructive power.

I also makes him seem like an idjut for trying to punch 17. Ssj Vegeta can't touch the chick whose weaker, and when he does it isn't hurting her, yet he figures let me punch 17 over just blowing the mf away.

The move almost has to be accepted as a momentum attack and not a ki blast much like the DD is accepted as a buzz saw or SBC like a drill

We're talking specifically about the Shin Kikoho, not the original. I don't personally follow guidebooks however in this particular instance the Daiz writers had the same opinion as me and also called it a Kiai attack. It could have been something Tien invented in order to try and be useful for the androids when his actual power was worthless.

I liked a theory of Infamous666 ,as Tien using his Shin Kikoho with a amp of Kaioken.

Izanagi!

This is still goin' on?

Remember - Momentary pain is still pain. Unless you're arguing that Cell was in momentary pain when #16 punched him, I don't really see where you're going with that.

I'm not trying to argue that the Shin Kikoho hurt him massively, it just hurt him a bit. He'd still be able to observe #18 and #16 leaving because the pain wasn't overwhelming.

That's the problem will asspulls, Pyrus, you can't get an in-universe explanation. Unless you wanna go with;

#19 and #20 - The others (Goku and Vegeta) had the situation under control
#17 and #18 - Everyone had charged in so there was a very high chance of them being caught in the attack

I still feel there is the element of surprise speaking for Tenshinhan. Cell saw 16's punch coming.

Cell saw Tenshinhan, though he probably had no idea what the guy was about to unleash.
