A punch is a punch. Also, Cell wasn't caught off-guard. He might not have expected the punch, but he saw 16.

He was caught in the massive amount of energy Tenshinhan sent towards him, however, and as a result he was "caught in a web". The Kikoho didn't do any damage to Cell.

Looked in pain. LOOKED. Who says anything about him BEING in pain? For all we know, he could be practicing his expressions for his stand-up routine...
Okay so now we're sayin' that just because he looked in pain doesn't mean that he was?

Please tell me this is a ruse.

Maybe he wasn't in physical pain. Maybe it was mental? Hey, how would we know? I didn't know the look Cell gave was an universal expression of pain.

Cell is literally spitting up everywhere, there's a limit to how little force an attack can be at before a character shrugs it off and Cell was hardly shrugging it off.

Mental pain caused by what? Did the Kikoho cause him a headache? It was obviously physical pain.

I'm not buying it.

Mental pain of losing Android 18, obviously. He's panicking, trying everything to get out of there. He's giving an effort. Doesn't mean he's in pain.

Whether it's pain or just a result of the pressure he's under, he wouldn't be making such an expression if the attack wasn't doing anything to him.

wat

We could do this kind of thing to any event in the manga, you know. "We SEE Goku and Freeza fighting evenly, but how do we KNOW they're even? Maybe Freeza lost power without realizing or Goku is going easy to humiliate him," "We see Vegeta step back when #19 punched him, but how do we KNOW #19 has that strength? Vegeta could be mocking him for all we know."

It gets us nowhere.

And then the 18 thing; He didn't have to take notice of 16 and 18 leaving for him to understand they would get away.
He isn't going to put on an expression of pain (if it's not pain, it's discomfort at the very least) at the thought of 18 getting away and then act surprised when it actually happened. His expression is a result of the attack he's being subjected to, and if said attack was the equivalent to a gust of wind to him nothing should've stopped him from escaping it.

panicking, trying everything to get out of there.
And he's unable to. You just shot yourself in the foot.

That logic sounds Dishonest because we could say that in every other scenario there is.

I can go along with discomfort. Obviously, he didn't get out of there, so it must be frustrating and even non-damaging moves can be discomforting.

And causing Cell discomfort is a crap load more than No. 16 ever pulled off on him.

Even if it isn't actual pain (I for one don't take the bruises as anything more than cosmetic damage, for example, they show up often when no real damage was inflicted) it's still enough to put the Shin Kikoho on a higher level than many would like.

Again, difference between a punch and a barrage of energy.

There is none. Both are calculated through power levels and both hit the enemy to cause damage.

Can we accept for a fact that Cell did not even blink when 16 punched him? And that the Shin Kikoho managed to put him in pain?

Fine. Kikoho is the strongest technique in the manga, bar-none.

Have we prevailed?

Good, as for the reveal, Brofist, Drew, Cenet, and Nichel are all my dupes.

Have a nice day.

Edit: Relevant content: Genki Dama on Kid Boo's da best, but alright.
