I'm supposed to go see it tonight, but I might have to put off those plans. It looks really awesome, though. I've heard that if you're going to see it, it's a must-watch in 3D.

My first thought when I read the synopsis was "What the f***? This sounds exactly like Neon Genesis Evangelion"

But then I saw the director was Guillermo del Toro, Idris Elba is in it and the trailers which pumped me up a bit.

Going into this one with an open mind to avoid any disappointments

Someone told me they downloaded an illegal version of the movie. A few minutes into the film, they saw the title screen which read "Atlantic Rim". At this point, they were like "oh is that it's actual name?" but they soon realised it was not what they expected...

It turns out that this company called Assylum Films or something makes "mockbusters" where they reproduce films but with low budget actors and effects.

I lol'd and it reminded me of that Mos Def and Jack Black film Be Kind Rewind.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

Is it as cheesy a movie as it looks?

It looks cheesy, but good too looks like a fun movie don't think you could go to the cinema and see it and cry about wasting money but doesn't seem like it'll be a classic.

I'm just hoping it's not all like OH YEAAHHHH 'MURICA WITH THE BIG GUNS *stereotypical a*** whopping*

I'm waiting until Monday to watch it. It looks amazing, wish they would have promoted it better and more.

I thought the martial arts were really nice. The mech battle scenes were also insane.

It was..ok. A little disappointing. Felt like it should have been longer, the score was bad (so bad that it was distracting to me), and they didn't hit enough on the points I really wanted them to. It did have some great moments but they didn't really put all the pieces together like I was hoping. It did have some great mech fights though.

Solid movie however, just think it could have been so much better than it turned out to be.

I thought it was awesome.

Was it cheesy and somewhat predictable? Yes, but that's not why you go and see a film like this. Do you watch Godzilla for the deep and intricate plot?
It's all about the large scale mech fights and Pacific Rim delivered on that.
It didn't take itself too seriously so it was an insanely fun and visually stunning Summer blockbuster.

For me it's the best film of the Summer so far and I'll most likely be picking it up on Blu-Ray.

I've always been a big nerd when it comes to giant monsters, so naturally I loved it. Plus the fights were awesome and the characters were cool.

Was anyone else sensing some serious parallels between Attack on Titan and this movie, or was it just me?
