DBZ's repeat value

Thala na Gethu!

Rewatch value. Few anime's can take pride in that.

I mean people dont watch specifically DBZ for plot or backstory as in DeathNote or Naruto.

Its all action.

But d'ya think it has the repeat/rewatch value purely for action?

Nah I don't really think the action is the only thing that wants me to re-watch Dragon Ball again, there are other things such as nostalgia & epic non-action scenes such as Vegeta's Death on Namek & Gohans transformation to SSjin2. I mean they are all somewhat related to action but I think there are also other things to watch for, humour included.

P.S: You are not by any chance a Ajith (Kumar) fan. ;)

Novacane for the pain

No comparing Anime's in here because every time it ends up in a big mess with a bunch of people warned and a locked thread. And the topic isn't about that either.

I don't really like re-watching anything if I'm honest. Even my favourite series, I can only watch it a couple of times like all the way through and after that I just watch favourite fights/scenes/episodes and occasionally arcs every now and then. They just aren't anywhere near as good when you know exactly what's going to happen. Strangely I can re-read books though.

Yeah, I feel the same way too. The anime, I just can't watch it more than once.
It's just a pain for me. Don't get me wrong I love the DBZ anime. It's just feels like I can't watch it more than once.

But with the manga it's different. I keep wanting to read it again and again.
That's how I personally feel with manga in general, not just DB.

I remember when they aired dbz on tv, they would sometimes reach a certain part and then jump back to the beginning. I think this had something to do with the dub releases... anyways it used to kill me. We'd be up to freiza saga on a wednesday then come home after school and thursday and it would be raditz arrives!

But in 2011 I bought the orange boxes. Since then I have re-watched all of dragon ball and dbz (up to fusion saga... god damn the buu saga is terrible and boring as heck). Many times I re-watch a saiyan saga episode or android saga because those were my favourite.

So I definitely feel dbz has a replay value.

I don't think I would ever watch death note, elfen lied or fate stay night again. Great anime but not really re-watchable for me. Same goes for films eg. Inception (a good film IMO but I have only ever watched it once) but I have watched batman begins or the dark knight atleast 3 times so to each his own

I can somewhat agree with you on Death-Note since those kind of shows thrive on suspense & when you've watched it once, you do not need to see it again, cause you can see all the twists coming.

DB/Z as a whole never had much rewatch value for me as I personally don't like the anime's pacing and all the filler. I've rewatched fights and certain episodes but I've only ever gone through the whole thing once. As for the manga, I admittedly haven't even read all of it (mostly Boo arc stuff that I haven't gotten to), but at any rate the pacing is far more tolerable, but I still wouldn't re-read more than an arc or two at once.

I rewatch it over and over again for the story and the action. I love both. I have no problem rewatching along with all of the filler and everything that comes with it. Reading the manga alongside just allows me to enjoy the anime more without having to worry about accuracy or anything.

I'll always be able to rewatch it over and over again, DB-GT, back to back once one series is finished. I just enjoy watching the whole over and over again.

I can see myself watching Dragon Ball over and over again for nostalgia and fun. Dragon Ball is all about adventure - it's funny, cute, and reminds me of everything about my childhood and younger self that I loved. I can't really see myself rewatching Dragon Ball Z, though. I would rather read the manga, or if anything else watch Kai instead. There was too much filler in Z. But someday I'll probably end up sitting down and watching it again all in Japanese since I still haven't watched all of my Dragon Boxes.

I can rewatch anything from the 22nd TB to the end of DB, but I don't personally have an interest in rewatching most of Z. The pacing is crap and the filler makes me want to stab babies at times. Like my colleague Kyouks said, I will rewatch a specific fight or episode, but I can't sit through whole seasons without a good reason to; I get bored or frustrated.

Why have so much knowledge and discuss it everyday, though? Especially the Z discussions you're in. I never understand that about you and PV.

Hm? You mean how do we have so much knowledge? The wording of your passage has confused me.
