Daizenshuu info you follow/ignore; Stole from Kanzenshuu!

Most of us agree that the Daizenshuu can be a good source of information...but it can also lead to plenty of debates. So what info from the seven volumes do you adhere to or simply ignore?

For me:

~Daizenshuu 2 states in Goten's Growing Up section that he possesses power equal to Gohan. I disagree, as even in the manga it's clear that Gohan is still superior, if even by a little amount.
~Daizenshuu 7 states in Dabura's bio that he fought against Super Saiyan 2 Gohan. I don't believe the artwork supports Gohan using that form against Dabura, and Daizenshuu 2 contradicts that as well.
~Daizenshuu 7 states in Gotenks' bio that he powered up beyond "Vegeta and the others" after using the RoSaT, which blatantly contradicts what the manga lays out for us, and is one piece of info I wish simply didn't exist.
~Daizenshuu 7 states in Tenshinhan's bio that he fought Android No.19, which obviously never happened in the manga, anime, or movies.
~Any of the Three-Eyed Tribe stuff I don't completely disregard, but I don't accept any of it either, if that makes sense. Tenshinhan is a human and that's that to me.
~Daizenshuu 6 claims Movie 6 (Return of Cooler) takes place in the 10 day wait for the Cell Games. Even in an alternate universe, this seems highly implausible. Nothing but Dende being Guardian of Earth supports that idea.

There are bypasses to some of these, like Tenshinhan technically fighting "No.19" since No.19 at the time was in fact No.17, but still.

So what about you guys?

I take any of that information at face value. The manga speaks the truth of what happened. If a guidebook contradicts that, it can't be trusted.

Gohan was definitely SSJ in my opinion. I've never really looked much into the three eyed tribe thing, but that sounds interesting...

hmmm, well not sure if this is true or not, it lists gohan being 1 cm taller then goku, that could be true but at times it seems like gohan is more then 1cm taller could just be me though

next is i remember i believe it was Daizenshuu, cant remember but it said that mystic or ultimate if u will form was in between ssj2 and ssj3

even though ssj3 brings our latent powers to its limit and mystic or ultimate brings it to beyond beyond beyond beyond beyond its limit

and yeah ofc we know ssj 3 is severally inferior

That might be the Super Exciting Guide. I know in there it lists ages, heights, weights, etc. Gohan does appear taller than Goku from what I always see, though.

I'm not sure I understand what you're talking about. You mean they were listing the Super Saiyan forms, and Ultimate was put in between 2 and 3? Or what?

I tend to ignore anything that isn't the manga [with very little exception]. It seems to make things a lot simpler.

So in your case, if we were having a debate about the color of No.18's eyes, which while it may be mentioned in the manga (can't remember), isn't ever shown in a colored page, and her Daizenshuu bio said she had "lustrous blue eyes," you'd most likely ignore that based on it not being from the manga?

@Havoc: Do you think you could pinpoint this article? I'd like to take a look at it. It sounds intriguing.

Anything not contradictory is fine, like tidbits about the characters' lives.

However, the worst part about Daiz is the part where it says King Piccolo can lolstomp Kami, which is so blatantly wrong it's absurd.

As I said, there are exceptions... color art produced at the time of printing by Toriyama or his immediate staff would be more than acceptable for that particular topic. Stuff like color pages, cover art, or center page art.

For discussions sake, let's just say for now that 18's eye color is never mentioned.

Considering DB was a long running, black and white production... if no official color color art is produced, and no specific color mentioned... as long as the suggested color does not contradict the original tone (i.e. Vegeta can't be theorized to be wearing a light fawn colored body suit... because his body suit's original tone is black, signifying a dark color)...I'm not too fussed.

I think I may have come across a bit too... dismissive... in my initial post. Just to clarify; my exceptions are generally related art/notes created at the time of printing by Toriyama and his immediate staff.

I will be worried if we ever get into a debate over 18's eye color though...

I use what ever isn't a huge contradiction. For example Gotenks needed the time chamber to surpass Vegeta I assumes means that Base Gotenks is being compared pre and post.

I also assume that they are comparing Gohan and Goten's potential.

Actually, no. If you own any type of manga you will see that on some covers you can see the androids with their blue-eye'd color.
Plus there are many illustrations drawn by Toriyama where you can see the same thing.

I was just making a hypothetical argument. It didn't have to be correct.
