I mean, it's a fusion of strength between two people. It's like saying that the fusion dance is 2+2=4 and with a ''potara'' addition it's 2+2=5. |

Potara and fusion dance have diffrent powers. Its mentioned in seg that potara gives tremendous multiplication for fusing characters, while fusion dance could only be addition or less multiplication compered to potara... |

well basically we really dont know anything about gogeta All we know is the power of gotenks And we try to use the same gain logic in order to calculate the power of gogeta which we used to set the power of gotenks Edited by Pointer, Jun 26 2013, 03:26 PM.

Normally People takes Gogeta = 2x Gotenks . That puts SSj3 Gogeta very close to Buuhan . Yet , he is just a little stronger than Base Vegito |

8. Potara [#BO3#POT] Chapter: 501 (DBZ 307), P6.2-6 Context: Elder Kaioshin gives the Potara to Goku Elder Kaioshin: “Here! Put this Potara on your left ear! [ ] Put the other one on Gohan’s ear. Just by doing that, you two will be able to merge together! Like with Fusion.” Goku: “Huh! Re-really!?” Elder Kaioshin: “Of course. And what’s more, the effect is greater than with Fusion! This has been the trump card treasure of the Kaioshins since long ago.” This is why Vegetto is stronger than Gogeta. Obviously, the downside is that it's a permanent fusion. Elder Kai, as Emmeth just quoted from the Manga, states that Potara Fusion is much stronger than Fusion Dance. It's the same concept, but the result is different. This really isn't that far fetched though. In science, we see ALL sorts of instances where results can be different based on what you do, even though the base material is the same. For instance: when a blacksmith smelts down ore and makes a sword, one could simply smelt down iron and steel and pour it into the same crucible, resulting in a fairly strong sword. Or, the smith, like the Japanese do, could layer it like a Katana of old, and weave the steel, resulting in a blade that is 100 times stronger. The base materials were the same, yet the result is a much stronger bond. Pretty much like fusion. Different types of fusion, and one of them is stronger because of how it's done. Simple, really. I don't know if it's true or not but many fans say that Vegetto would beat Gogeta in a fight due to him being stronger, even if Gogeta was permanent. |

Gogeta can't be permanent; the only permanent fusion is a namekian fusion, and a Potara fusion. Gogeta is simply the result of Goku and Vegeta fusing via dance, there is no other way to produce Gogeta. And yes, I believe Vegetto would absolutely wreck Gogeta. |

I know it can't be done. But hypothetically speaking, EVEN IF Gogeta (somehow) was permanent. . . |

Well I'm not really sure the permanency of it is what makes it so strong; I believe it's the technique (potara earrings). I think those earrings have special powers that amplify fusion, and the side effect is it's permanent. Give and take type of thing. |

Potara Fusion is simply stronger than Fusion Dance so yes a permanent Gogeta would only be able to last longer against Gogeta. |

How is it possible for a fusion between two people to be different in both situations? 2+2 always equals 4, that never changes. So Vegeta + Gokuu is always a certain power level. |

I don't think fusion is a simple case of Vegeta + Goku, otherwise Base Vegetto wouldn't even be touching SSJ Goku |

Coolest explained it wonderfully with his sword creation metaphor, it's not entirely about the materials but how you combine them. The way Potara combines two beings is better than the way the Fusion dance does. And you can't think of it as just a simple addition, it'd be a formula using more than just addition. Something like this: Potara= A + B x 100=C Dance= A + B x 10= C. Also the rival boost gave additional power to the already superior Vegetto. |
