Question regarding King Piccolo.

 Hey guys. As some of you know I've been rewatching DBZ here and there and sort of getting into the spirit of things again, and I haz a question. :cool:

This is something I *think* I've asked on this forum before, but I'm not totally sure, and if it happened it happened like 6 years ago, so it's probably worth giving it another shot :p

King Piccolo! Can anyone tell me why he gave birth to creatures that looked nothing like namekians in comparison to the ones we saw on planet Namek in DBZ? I thought they were supposed to look all similar, yet all of King Piccolo's sons looked nothing like namekians. They're supposed to be namekians right? I'm probably missing something obvious, but that's why I have you guys here, to help me see the light.

 Toriyama didn't think as King Piccolo as a namekian yet, he was just regarded as the king of the demons, so that's why his children look like demons more than namekians. :p

Basically what Puccio is saying here. You could look at the creatures as mutant namekians, if you'd want.

 That crossed my mind, but then I was thinking "why didn't he just add more diversity to the namekian species when we finally got introduced to them in DBZ?", that would have been fairly easy and would get rid of all contradictions and stuff, which is why I was wondering if there was another reason I wasn't grasping for Piccolo's children to look so out of place.

 Blame it on King Piccolo being half a person, and his children ending up corrupted/mutated.

The reason all the Namekians look like Piccolo/Kami instead of varied like Tambourine and friends is so children [the target audience] can quickly/easily differentiate Namekians from all the other aliens introduced at that time... and thus identify who the "good guys" are.

The real answer is its just a plothole due to toriyama not inventing namekians until z, and King Piccolo really was just a demon at that point in the 80's.
