I honestly think Cartoon Network used to be the BEST cartoon outlet for everyone. How could you go wrong with shows like Courage The Cowardly Dog,Ed Ed'n Eddy,Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Johnny Bravo, Scooby Doo, Toonami, and for the adventurous young devils we were. Adult Swim. After all of the original Cartoons were discontinued, they lost their edge with all this live action BS. I personally believe it all went downhill after 2005. However, there are a couple slimmers of light. Regular Show, Adventure Time (cant see why people like it but meh). Perhaps they've learned that going back to original cartoons gains ratings. What are your thoughts? When do you think it all went downhill? Edited by Goddess Ultimecia, Jun 17 2013, 06:53 AM.

They moved most of the old cartoons over to Boomerang. I do agree with you. When I did have CN, I never watched it. I usually watched Boomerang. |

Probably around Mid 2000s, 2005-06, etc. Cartoons lack that essence of both comedy and maturity that they did before. Despite being targeted to the younger audience, it never tried to treat us as actual children. Ed Edd n Eddy is one of the greatest shows that was ever on CN, it was funny, and yet it had that point of seriousness, maturity and differences to it that made it enjoyable. It was the difference between someone giving a knock knock joke and a good comedian. The way the lines were said, the way the story flowed, you had some hilarious moments. Not CN but look at spongebob. It's almost unanimously agreed that the movie and the seasons before were infinitely better than the seasons now and its the same thing. You had an aspect of comedy in there that didn't treat kids like idiots and its something that not only an kids enjoy but something almost anyone can enjoy. |

I kind of don't like how boomerang has put Ben10. They should just stick to putting more old cartoons rather than new ones. |

I agree that CN has taken a downfall but I'm not sure if it's completely dead. It's had some really good series in the 2000's. Billy and Mandy was great to watch and so was action cartoons like Teen Titans(not the new version). The set up then was pretty sweet, and after around end of '06 when they started showing Chowder and Flapjack. It ironically was the beginning of my high school years so I'm not sure if the shows just got worser if my interest in cartoons dwinled. It's all good though, I got a era of amazing cartoons in my childhood that I now can catch on Boomrang and Nicks All 90's section can bring. |
