I have a question for you guys. So, I purchased volume 1 of the comic series a while back and now want to invest in the rest of the series; however, it apparently isn't that simple. There are the trade paperbacks, which contain 6 issues (I believe) and go for about 9 dollars. Then there are the hardcover editions which collect 12 issues and go for around 25 dollars, give or take. Next we have the omnibuses, which are apparently rare collector hardcover editions that look really nice for 50-60 dollars a piece. They collect 24 issues. Finally, there are the compendiums, bulky paperback books that contain 48 issues for around 35-40 dollars. What the heck? What am I supposed to buy? Collecting all of the trade paperbacks would be super expensive in the long-run. Going with the compendiums seems like the best bet for my wallet, but they're huge and bulky and would be difficult to read, not to mention they come out as slow as snails. I've seen a lot of people with the regular hardcover editions, but wouldn't the omnibuses be cheaper in the long-run? I'm so confused. |

Price : Compendium > Omnibus > Hardcover > Tradeback Quality : Trade Paperback > Omnibus ~ Hardcover > Compendium That's what I find, anyway. Trade Paperbacks are brilliant, easy to carry around and they're not 'flimsy' like the Compendiums or too awkward like the Hardcovers. I'd opt for the Compendiums, personally. They wont set you back a ton. Sure, it's not the smoothest read out of the 4 options, but it's all around easier; cheaper, printed on pretty good paper, hell of a lot of issues. Only two problems I'd see is carrying it around and waiting for the next one, which probably wouldn't be for a few years (unless you decide to collect the Tradebacks past Issue 96 Trade Paperback Hardcovers Omnibus Compendium If you're looking purely to read the comic, go with the Compendium. It's the cheapest way of accessing most of the series. If you're looking for a very nice, neat collection, go with the Trade Paperbacks (depending on how much ya wanna spend). If you don't wanna spend too much, the Omnibuses are probably your best bet. Edited by Yu Narukami, Jun 16 2013, 09:04 PM.

I would get the first two Compendiums and then go Trade paperback after that so you can stay somewhat caught up with the story. |

Yeah I have a book, second volume that I paid 60 bucks for. I haven't touched it because I don't have the first one and I'm just going to look for alternatives to reading it. |
