No worries, if you enjoy DBZ, watch DBZ. People may think its childish and immature and look down on you (like ma step dad) but hey if you're happy forget what they think. What you have to ask those people is, would you rather I watch a 'childish' show or be a drug addicted criminal? There are so many things in life worse than watching DBZ and maybe being 19 you aren't the target audience, if you watch it you're still an audience. And look how many people on this forum aren't kids. So clearly it's not just for kids. Watch away friend

It's not even childish if you ask me. Didn't Gero squeeze a guys head off once? I'm actually surprised my parents let me watch it now that I think about it... |

Heck even old people watch "My Little Pony!" remember that, DBZ was actually aimed for adults, but kids started to like the anime as it had more action than the manga. |

I think it has a bit for both kids and adults. Stuff like kid Gohan living alone in the wild and Goten & Trunks scenes are geared for kids but the fights and brutal scenes and also the perverted scenes are for adults. |

Despite Dragonball having some immature moments and a few scenes targeted towards children, I don't think people having their arms ripped off, and people dying to save the world is childish. Just keep watching DBZ man. Whatever gives you entertainment is the most important thing, don't worry about what others say. |

If you enjoy it then don't let anyone tell you any different. I'm 20 and intend to stay a fan for life. Most of the people who say DBZ is for kids know nothing about it anyway. Cartoons and anime in general seem to get put in the category of "it's for kids" by some people simply because they are cartoons. I see no reason why cartoons or anime should be considered just for kids simply because they're animated rather than acted. A lot more work, effort and imagination goes into anime than a lot of the crappy so-called "mature" shows on TV anyway. If someone claims you're immature for watching DBZ or anything else just remember the wise words of Bruce Lee "I'm not in this world to live up to your expectations and you're not in this world to live up to mine". My basis for looking at this stuff is more for the form of art than for the actual content of story. I'm hugely into animated TV shows and films, even if they're usually oriented toward kids. I've just always been a fan of animated or comic art. However, with comic art, I don't usually get into the story too often. I can't even tell you how many graphic novels I own that I've only looked at like a picture book and never actually read. For example, I just acquired the Wonderful World of Oz graphic novel series (art by Scottie Young) as well as Batman: Hush (art by Jim Lee). Haven't read either, and probably never will. DragonBall is convenient because it's in animated form, however, I have read the manga and own the Viz version of the first Daizenshuu (known as The Art of Akira Toriyama in the states). I will get involved in a series if I find the art half-way decent and individually stylized or distinguishable from other artists. I've recently started watching Soul Eater, not a huge fan of the manga art though, but the anime art is quite good. Naruto anime art sucks, but the manga art is pretty good and highly distinguishable from its competitors. This explains why I haven't really gotten into the series as a story, even though I own both Jump art books from Masashi Kishimoto. However, one mangaka that I'm hugely into is Hiromu Arakawa, and Fullmetal Alchemist as a story is incredible. Akira Toriyama's art style is incredibly distinguishable and not all that bad. He's gotten better over the years, even though his non-character art has always been exceptional. Edited by Ketchup Revenge, Jun 1 2013, 10:52 PM.

Dragonball will never loose it's nostalgic value. Just like people will always reminisce about their old T.V series as a kid and would re-watch them. The same goes for fans of Anime. I started watching it around 8 I thtink,. Now I'm 21. Still watch it occasionally. |

I know I said it was immature earlier. But to actually think of it Its not really childish or immature is just an action sitcom but with Drawings. That appeals to any age in my opinion. |

Your dad needs to watch DBZ and man up. Saying DBZ is childish is like saying a PG-13 movie should only be viewed by people ages 13-17. |

Well I have the whole series of DBZ on dvd and I am tempted to watch some of it right now. I am worried what my dad would say if he caught me watching it cause I am trying to be more mature for him even though there are for more immature teens out there then me. |
