| Son Gohan's Full Potential During the Boo Fight; Why do people make such a big deal out of Son Gohan releasing all his dormant powers? | |

When Son Gohan was brought to the Kai's world and did training with the sword before releasing the old godly King Kai from the sword, the old godly King Kai brought out his latent power much like what the Namekian grand elder did back during the Frieza fight. What's up with giving it a whole status, like its a transformed state? Its just non-transformed Gohan powered up beyond the power he possessed in any transformed state before. I know in the video games they give him a separate entitiy but Son gohan has like 5 different entities throughout the games to indicate different ages and powers. And he was called Super Gohan at some point in Japanese but that's only a reference to his great power, because he likely surpassed everyone again in power even his father. During his fight with Majin Boo once he returns from the Kai's world, he never transforms into Super Saiyan. But remember, he learnt to fight from Son Gokuh, so its not like he'd fight like Vegita and present his full power right up front. He was testing Boo's power. And the fight was short lived, as Boo merely outsmarted Son Gohan in their 2nd fight after the very short 1st fight between them. In other words, Gohan never got the chance to transform if he really needed to. Also, in Dragon Ball GT he transforms. So its not like he achieved this new form above Super Saiyan or anything when his dormant powers were brought out by the old godly King Kai. It was just a power above his Ascended-Super-Saiyan powers before that. |

All of Gohan's power, his transformations, potential all of that has now been unlocked and greatly increased. Gohan's not fighting in base or anything, he's literally fighting at his maximum potential, the absolutely strongest his ki can be at without added effects to it. |

Without adding, like Super Saiyan for instance? His overall power was increased by his latent power, that's what releasing your full potential is... And so, from 'Super Gohan' he can transform to become Super Saiyan, if he ever needed it. From the looks of it against Majin Boo he didn't need it. And it was too bad he was out smarted, but also it was fortunate for all the fighters that Son Gohan wasn't Ascended past Super Saiyan when absorbed. |

Gohan is fighting Boo at his full power. He's basically told to become a Super Saiyan, to transform by Elder Kaioshin. Thus when he fights Super Boo, he literally fights him at his full power. |

I believe its not the same the entire potential dormant power everything was going to this form and GT is non-canon Gohan was not in his Mystic form then if the battle of gods is canon as Toriyama said then Mystic is just another transformed state because Gohan when fighting Bill became Mystic, but later on he trainsformed to a Ssj so he can borrow his powers to Goku to transform to a ssjg, however I might be wrong but I believe that Mystic has Ben just another transformed state

If Gohan transforms in the movie than that along with the idea of Freeza>Base Saiyans can be chucked right out the window along with any other BS BOG brings up. |

Ultimate was shown to be a transformation in M13 and slightly in the fusion saga as well. Old Kai tells Gohan to go SSJ and believe and he powers up so perhaps Gohan could still go MSSJ if he wanted to know and go Ultimate for big opponents. |

DUDE I COMPLETELY AGREE I HATE HOW PEOPLE MAKE SUCH A BIG DEAL OVER GOHAN! HE HAD HIS SHOT AND DECIDED NOT TO TRAIN SO GOKU DID WHAT GOKU DOES AND TOOK IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL, EVERYONE NEEDS TO GET OFF GOHAN BECAUSE AKIRA SAID IT HIMSELF GOHAN WAS NOT FIT TO TAKE OVER AS THE MAIN CHARACTER BECAUSE HE IS TOO SOFT A HEART AND DOESNT HAVE THE TENACITY LIKE GOKU AND VEGETA HAS! |

Hey there buddy turn off the caps lock it feels like you're one of those enthusiastic businessman who yell positive things about their product. If Gohan transforming in in the new BoG movie is true then that is the last I consider BoG canon. |

Toriyama’s involvement in the recent movie was primarily in writing the script, along with Yūsuke Watanabe: “It’s rare, or rather, it’s the first time, that I’ve been deeply involved with the animation from the scriptwriting stage.” “The catalyst was that, first of all, when the script originally came to me, there was a lot of the sort of dialogue that only the creator would know, so I thought, “that bothers me”, and then this and that also started to get on my mind, and so rather than telling them to revise each individual thing, I thought it might be faster if I just wrote the script myself.” “I was told about a project for Dragon Ball in its first animated film in a long while, and I read the story outline; while the beings “Beerus, God of Destruction” and “Super Saiyan God” (which goes above Super Saiyan) were interesting, the themes were heavy, and I felt that the world was a bit different from Dragon Ball. Rather than telling them about this or that problematic spot, I thought it would be faster if I just wrote it out concretely, and while I had intended just to give them a model―”for example”―my hand wouldn’t stop, and ultimately, I ended up writing almost everything, including the dialogue. I am reflecting on the fact that I did something terribly rude to the scriptwriter.” If you follow this link it’ll provide more insight on the topic at hand, along with a Twitter conversation with Watanabe prior to the movie’s release regarding this very issue. He confirms how Gohan wasn’t intended to transform into Super Saiyan (based from the script at least): “Oh, and also, this is a spoiler, so it’s kind of “that” [i.e., not appropriate for me to be telling you], but in the movie proper, Gohan isn’t a Super Saiyan! By all means, please do check it out in the actual movie!” Whatever visual changes are made would be at the discretion of the movie’s producers. But as evidenced by them showcasing Gohan as a SSJ in the trailer, there is clearly an incentive present, regardless of what may have been intended originally. |

Chapter: 496 (DBZ 302), P7.2-3 Context: after Gohan transforms into the ‘mightiest of warriors’ Goku: “It re-really is incredible…It’s super-duper…! Absolutely unbelievable…Your appearance has hardly changed…And you ain’t even a Super Saiyan…Yet you’ve been taken to su-such an extreme…” Elder Kaioshin: “Hmph, transforming isn’t good. That Super whatever-its-called is the wrong way [of doing things]…” Edited by Emmeth, Jun 1 2013, 03:39 AM.

To put simply, Old Kai reconstituted Gohan's ki structure. Ultimate Gohan is just Gohan. |

Gohan mastered Super Saiyan along with Goku. He could have effortlessly transformed to MSSj, so, him getting too beat up after just wanting to test Boo's power doesn't really work. If he had anything left in the tank (meaning, not on death's door) he would have transformed to MSSj. I think when Dende healed him after Boo (Gotenks/Piccolo absorbed) beat him down would be a pretty good opportunity to bust anything else he had out. Super Gohan: That interview with Toriyama is awesome. Hopefully, he starts to not be able to stop writing Dragonball scripts again in the near future.
