 I think Hercule would win normally but the bear thief has a sword which can turn Mr Satan to pieces :lol: but in partucular Hercule has the power advantage

I still think Hercule would do pretty well in at least 21st TB. I think he's stronger than at least Bacterian and Ranfan.
Bacterian had strength that even Yamcha adknowleged, and Ranfan's surprise attack against Namu was far more effective than Giran's sucker punch on Goku. Mark would stand no chance against them.

As for the topic, a complete mismatch. The Bear Bandit is far larger than an average bear, who are already around 5x stronger than normal humans. By comparision, Mr. Satan wasn't strong enough to even knock a normal human unconcious.
I completely disagree. It's taken out of context, because of the different times. Excluding Yamcha's comment, Bacterian didn't show any feats in the fight against Krillin except his odor. That's the only thing he could win with. Ranfan had a strong punch, but she was more about other tactics, like using her feminine looks and behaviour. I think Hercule could stand up against them pretty well, maybe even Yamcha.

 Namu was no more unprepared for the punch as Goku was against Giran, so that feat comparision still stands.Also, Bacterian showcased the feat of still being concious after Kuririn's kick, when Kuririn was previously shown to one-shot a Smilodon before his training with Roshi, and the fact that Yamcha never contradicted Bacterian having tremendous strength shows that it wasn't a throwaway comment. You're just choosing to ignore the statement.

I take the fact that he is one of AT's favorite characters into account. I am aware he was made for comic relief, but that can't be the only reason.

What does favoritism have to do with Mark's strength? AT listed Piccolo as one of his favorites but look what happened to him during the Boo arc - almost complete irrelevancy.

Mister Satan's feats, and Videl's for that matter, pale in comparison to Goku's from the very beginning of the series. It took multiple hits for Videl to bring down a few robbers, and they weren't even unconscious afterward, whereas Goku knocked a freaking dinosaur silly. :gokudance:

And sure it's filler, but still have you ever tried breaking tiles? Chopping fourteen of them on solid ground with your bare hands isn't easy. Besides, Hercule can use highspeed movement and after images (Like his battle against Van Zant), so I'd say in universe he's strong enough. And where is that alleged "Interview" where Akira Toriyama states (Probably jokingly) that Hercule is weaker than Bob Sapp (Although Bob Sapp isn't anyone to sneeze at either...)? Unless we can link and source, it's not evidence.
The only posts you need to read are the ones from CatouttaHell. Do that and then we've got a debate on our hands. Mister Satan has no feats that compare to those of the early fighters, and him winning some tournaments isn't one either since it was stated that all the good competition left when Goku did.


By the way, completely off topic, what happened to him?
When I wasn't registered yet on forums, I used to read his posts, and I consider him one of the greatest connoisseurs of the matter.

It's completely ridiculous how we can make assumptions on how strong the characters in the manga is. Calculations and assumptions from early manga to late manga. It's a common fact that everybody gets stronger and stronger, and meet stronger people. While it is implied that Satan is weaker than most of the contestants of 21 TB, I don't believe it's many.

Oh, and also... Goku knocked out the dinosaur with his Power Pole.
