 Piccolo manhandled Dr. Gero who was > Android 19 and SSJ Goku was > Android 19 pre absorbtion.

Piccolo was second to SSJ Vegeta who was said to be stronger than SSJ Goku so was Piccolo weaker or equal to Goku the time he fought 19.

Goku just having IT makes this easier on him--even if the power advantage is slight, that move can counter and overcome anything Piccolo has before uniting.

 The power advantage was great enough that Piccolo placed Trunks above himself, when noting that "not even a Super Saiyan like Trunks could do anything to them."

Without the heart virus, Piccolo would be lucky to hold his own for a short time, although with the virus, he'd be able to take Goku.

 Goku wins imo. though they would b pretty equal but with goku gaining the upper hand.

 It was stated by Piccolo and Kami that Piccolo was below the Super Saiyans, and Trunks was stated to be somewhat behind Goku and Vegeta. The gap wouldn't be marvelous, but it would be enough for a healthy Goku to stomp a mudhole in the green guy. No questions asked.

It makes sense considering:

Android 16 > Android 17 > Android 18 >> Android 19 > or >> Android 20.

Android 19 was nothing to SSJ Vegeta, who was only slightly more powerful than a healthy SSJ Goku.
And Android 20 is weaker than Android 19. So it's fine for Piccolo to be slightly stronger, and clearly more skilled, than Android 20.

 Goku takes him on. I don't think that Vegeta was that much stronger than Goku, who was stated to be the strongest.

20 states himself that he is above 19. Your chain doesn't make sense either.

19 Post @Vegeta increased so much power , he may be above 20 , but after 20 absorbs Vegeta's blast and Piccolo he increases as much. Piccolo is just as strong as SSJ's as to be in their category. Piccolo only won because of skill , the gap doesn't have to be huge , just as Vegeta and Zarbon , they were close in terms of power ,but the fight doesn't show like it.

What you said obviously. SSjin Vegeta destroyed Nineteen, and he's at most like 15% above this Goku. Vegeta is fully capable of oneshotting Twenty with a Big Bang, and the same to Goku with a Kamehameha. Goku would easily handle Piccolo.
