But did Gohan get one as a SS2, because I doubt that. It seemed more like all his Current Dormant Power was brought to the surface through his rage, and that's it. It still doesn't seem like a stretch if you look at SS power tapping into a Saiyans Potential/Dormant Power, like I do. |

Maybe this time it has been different since Vegeta is now pure hearted and Birusu (b***)slapped the only person he ever loved. Edited by Sjk8, May 12 2013, 10:13 PM.

Gohan was only presented as a SSJ on some early promotional material, he was always animated as and intended to be "Ultimate". |

Wow the fandom turned on this movie quickly. I haven't seen it, but it's starting to sound like the "Canon" camp is starting to split. WHat was the topic again, Frieza vs the Base Saiyans? I think Cooler's Revenge stated that Goku could have taken down Frieza using his 20x Kaioken if he were as strong as he was in the Cooler Movie, but dueling Frieza on Namek. Nearest we can tell, that means that certain Saiyans can take him down in the Base Form. I think Gohan did the same thing in Fusion Reborn, and by GT Goku was manhandling Frieza and Cell (Albiet a much stronger Frieza and Cell, but level grinding aside he definitely won that fight.) So yeah, Goku and the boys Hands Down. |

I do not understand why people have such a hard time with Goku going from a supposed 3 million to 100% Freeza+. If that 3 million is anything to go by, he increased his base power by close to 7000x since his battle with Raditz less than 2 years prior. Even if we can't trust 3 million, with the assumed 90,000 Goku arrives on Namek with he has already increased his base power by over 200x. I find it incredibly difficult to believe that over the course of the following two decades, with no mention of a hard limit on base, Goku could not increase his power beyond 100% Freeza. Putting numbers to the side for a moment, this chain confuses me [NOTE: Placements only, no gap implications]: Freeza > [Buu Saga] Goku > [Pre-RoSaT] Restricted Trunks ~ Android 18 > [Namek] SSJ Goku > Freeza ...this one too... Freeza > Base Saiyans > Kaioshin > Freeza With what I have interpreted from the Manga; Freeza > [Buu Saga] Goku simply does not work and I will place this "canon" movie with the other "side stories". NOTE: AT didn't actually write the movie; he oversaw a lot of the production, designed some characters, and gave the OK. Even if he had produced this movie completely independently, I doubt he has delved as deeply into his Dragon Ball series as many of the fans have and would still create something that likely contradicted the Manga in some way. Just appreciate the movie for what it is; an attempt to breathe life into a dying/dead franchise that we all seem to enjoy. |

The train of thought is that once the transformations were brought in, the Saiyans' normal forms were inconsequential - their transformed states were the focus, thus there was no need for AT to boost their regular states to such heights as the once-all-powerful Freeza. |

Which is fine from a story-telling perspective and would have been great if he had implied such things in the original telling of the story. Obviously, there was no need to make the base Saiyans as strong as, or greater than Freeza but implications presented within the manga require them to be, whether intended or not. I realize this is all a result of poor planning, and lack of concern for accuracy but it is what it is. |
