Is Mastered SSJ = Full Power SSJ? Or do they have separate meanings? My current belief: MSSJ is the mastery of the Super Saiyan form to minimise strain and increase endurance upon use. FPSSJ is the user transforming prior to a fight, so they would not have to waste power on transformation during combat. Can anyone verify this is accurate, or correct me if I am mistaken? Thanks. |

They mean the same thing. They are more or less fan terms so you can technically define them however you like, but when someone of the fandom says "FPSSJ" or "MSSJ," they usually just mean the mastery of SSJ. I think "Full Power Super Saiyan" was the name one of the Daizenshuus gave it.

Yup Kyouks nailed it. They are one in the same, but I often roll with FPSSJ since the daizenshuu actually gave that term. MSSJ is just a fan name. |

Pretty much what was said, but I now just call it SS because by the Boo arc it was such a common form of SS, that by the end of the arc all the Super Saiyans had it. |

Kyouks hit the nail straight on the head. I only really go with MSSJ as it's easier to type. |

It makes more sense for it to be dubbed Mastered Super Saiyan than Full Power Super Saiyan. Full Power is used to describe the limit or extent, the cap on someones power. It's obvious that they can still become stronger in Super Saiyan. Having mastery, your truly adept in your ability, and in complete control. They're meant to mean the same thing but in reality they don't at all. Edited by Ryebrid, May 11 2013, 08:56 AM.

Why did Goku and Gohan stay as SSJ during the wait for the Cell games whereas Vegeta and Trunks did not? Surely going into a fight without having to transform has some significance? Not having to waste energy on the act of transformation itself and using that saved energy to increase your overall power. Edited by Reldar, May 11 2013, 11:02 AM.

They mastered the form so they could do that, Vegeta and Trunks could not. |

They both adopted Goku's method of training after seeing it, and were competent, but not completely Mastered by the time of the Cell Games. |

Mastery happens as a natural adjustment to repeated or continuous use of the form. Vegeta and Trunks probably hadn't spent enough time in Super Saiyan to adjust to it like Goku and Gohan had. I use FPSSj and MSSj interchangeably as well, because they are the same thing. |
