How does the fight play out in the manga? Is it as close as the anime shows it to be for a while?

Bootenks had the advantage the whole time. There was really nothing Gohan could do. Except, accepting all of the toying around Boo did with his antenna and chi attacks.

Interesting. I find it strange that the anime would make it seem as if Gohan had a chance. I believe even Kaioshin or someone else said it would be a great fight.

Maybe both weren't at their FP yet.

Boo can always match Gohan to throw him off--and everyone else until he's ready to pretty much gain the advantage when he wants to.

Anime fight > Manga fight , of this IMO.

Gohan was shown to do something more useful than in Manga , which wasn't cool.

His "chance" was to survive long enough for the fusion to end, without being absorbed himself. With Dende around there was still a slight bit of hope for Gohan.

I really enjoyed this fight in the anime. I really liked the stance homage to Goku vs Vegeta. And the fight sort of played out like base Goku vs Frieza with it being fairly close at first only to become a case of the villain toying with the hero and the hero battling on with will power alone. I thought the scene where Gohan breaks out of the galactic donuts was great when you think he's finished but then suddenly the "Gohan Powers up" theme comes on and he breaks free.
"The future of Gohan. The Future of Chi Chi. Not to mention the future of the entire universe. It all depends on me!!!! And I don't care if you're a million times stronger than me! I'm not going to let them down! So get ready Frieza because this time you're going Down!!!"

Hmm , maybe I didn't make it clever to you , but I meant Gohan anime was more useful against Buutenks , than in Manga , which it is cool ! :)
