Quick question about Future Trunks and his sword

However, the Future Trunks could not have met Tapion, could he? With the earth in the shape it is in, and all factors being considered, the events of Tapion never would have happened. How does Future Trunks have Tapion's sword then? Am I missing something obvious?

Wrath of the Dragon has a major a plot hole concerning releasing of Tapion from the music box when comparing it to Trunks's time. The Dragon Balls didn't exist in Trunks's time, therefore using Shenlong to open the box doesn't work. We never know how Future Trunks gets the sword.
	The vengeance is her's for as long as she stands by Him.

It might be one of those things where he is always destined to have that sword. Thus in the normal timeline, Tapion came to have it, to ultimately eventually give it to Trunks. it could be possible, under that theory, that in future trunks' timeline, the sword would not have been in the possession of Tapion, and Trunks came to find it another way. Who knows? As we'll never 100% know the answer I feel.

	list of canon sources: the DB manga, and the Dr. Slump manga as it applies to the crossover during the rra saga. list of non canon sources: everything else, regardless of origin, format, or quality. for those that blindly follow word of god
