A team known as Robot Underdog have announced a new project of theirs in which they will attempt to make their own approach to live action Dragon Ball Z.
It is currently uncertain on what plans they exactly have, but they did release two photos showing off a live action version of Adult Gohan and Goku.

New photos will continue to release until they announce this live action DBZ project.

What do you guys think?
I don't really mind there making another live action DBZ project, just by looking at the pictures I can tell it's going to be better then Evolution, but at the same time, you can't take an anime, and turn it into a live action, it just doesn't work that way

I'm just a piece of trash.. but there are things I learned. The hole in your heart is something other people can fill.
If you reject your friends' feelings and this world..
Just because something didn't go as you wished, no one will ever come to you.
And so that hole won't be filled either, if you just run away without doing anything people won't do anything for you either..

I've always wondered why didn't Evolution cast an Asian guy as the lead, considering how 80% of its cast filled with Asian actors/actresses.

Its amazing how fanmade works are much superior than dog**** that Hollywood's "Big-budget" craps.

I agree with ya Nicole.

U just can't take an anime & butcher it for the sake of making more money.

Well, it can't be worst than Evolution. Even though I agree, making anime into movies is just too hard.
Videogame movies also are pretty much a disappointment for me. :p Meh. Not really excited about this.

This was already done with K&K productions who did fantastic and are now proceeding to the Frieza saga. Those are just trailers though, if this group can actually recreate a movie on a limited "fan" budget, (K&K's was funded and huge bit still not enough) ill be surprised.

Goku begin Asian or not never bothered me because he was a saiyan, I think any DBZ fan could take the DBE cast and make a good film from it it was the writers/director that sucked.

It doesn't matter much who is cast in what roles. Asians, americans, whatever. It might be a japanese manga, but it isn't exclusively asian culture in it.

As for the pictures from this "Robot Underdog" production, it looks pretty neat.

Eh, Evolution tried as hard as it could. It just tried to cram over 100 episodes into 1 ninety minute space, with no background continuty, and make it accessible for a general audience. Quite difficult really.

Yeah, I don't think DB/Z/GT should ever be Live Action...ever!

It's just way too complicated to get most of it right, and most of it would have to be CG anyway, so they mine as well make the whole thing CG.

Also, an actor is never going to look 100% like anyone from the Series, they might look close, but I don't think it'll be close enough to make it work.

The biggest problem is that the characters from the anime/manga are TOO iconic. You see a picture of Goku and instantly, EVERYONE goes "Goku."

But you change one thing about that picture of goku and everyone realizes that something is off. This is the problem. No matter HOW hard they try to make a character look like Goku, or Gohan..or Krillin..it's going to fail, because we already know what he looks like. Visual is all we've had. It's not like a book.

Agreed. Superman, Batman, Spidey, Wolverine and a few others are easier to work with since it's so integrated into American culture (And because the Marvel and DC continuities are really f*cked up as is.)

Moving on, the story is really linear too and much longer than your average super villain arc in an american comic, so it wouldn't work too well. Unless it was a saga by saga abridgment.

Evi was horrible, I couldn't see this being any better. As a Dragon Ball fan, I have to watch this. I'll probably regret it though :p

I think DB could fit into 1 but definably two movies.

1. Pilif- RRA

2. 22nd budokai-23rd budokai

Or you could combine a lot of stuff and do

RRA- 23rd Budokai.

DBZ movies would be saga to saga.

Whilst I would love to see a Live action DBZ movie, I'm not entirely sure its possible.

Just think about it, even if you bring a run time of 3 hours (which is long for a movie really) you've still got to chop/change stuff to fit in that time. I've tried my hand at writing a screenplay for a DBZ movie,( sadly it'll never see the light of day, but for those interested it was based on the saiyan saga), and just trying to convey what happened in the anime, and make that into one singular movie was difficult to say the least.

I personally found to make it worth while, you'd have to have things set up or at least mentioned to set things up 2-3 movies down the line, which all things considering is hoping for the best.

Whilst i fully support any attempt to do this, I don't think its possible to anything near a exactly direct saga to movie style film. it'd need to be changed a whole lot , just to make it understandable to the wider audience.

This , (from the pictures at least), looks better than the last fan effort.
