Can Saiyans Breathe in Space or NOT?

I think I remember Frieza saying Saiyans couldn't breathe in space on Namek. Thats why Goku had to use a Ginyu Force space pod to escape the planet's destruction. But in the Battle of Gods trailer, it shows Goku fighting in space above Earth. I'm also pretty sure when Vegeta was training to become a Super Saiyan, he blew up meteors on some planet or moon.

I'm really confused, can someone tell me if they can breathe in Space or not?

Actually Bats we just figured this out this last weekend. Turns out Saiyans can't breath in space, but they can fight in space.
Nearest we can tell anyway.

Breathing is defined as: "An inhalation or exhalation of air from the lungs."

No one can breath in space. Space is a vacuum; there is no gas to inhale/exhale.

No, they can't. Frieza stated that they can't and bardock was not in outer space , he was still in the athmospere.where it still had oxygen, but just very little.

I reckon they can adapt to space and learn how to breath in it

Saiyans can't breath in space, they can however fight in the upper most atmosphere.

Another thing to note is whenever someone speaks, that is proof there is an atmosphere present.

Sound needs a medium to pass through. Without a medium, we wouldn't be able to hear them speak.

True, and if I remember correctly in Dragon Ball Z when explosions on planets were viewed from space they were sometimes not audible, indicating the requirement of matter to conduct sound was not ignored by Toei even.
