It was his mothers dream for him to be a scholar, and that dream was embedded inside Gohan, I see chichi telling Gohan to study more during Freeza saga, maybe all the telling to study made him study unlike most of us.
She cares more about Gohan's studies than the safety of the world..

If I recall correctly that's like stated in Kai at some point during the time he's fighting Cell.
I really do hate that woman.

Lmao, she did say that didn't she.

I remember her letting the Android thing go promptly after that. And to be fair, when your husband is Son Muther F*cking Goku the Legendary Super Saiyan, would you think it's nessecary to put you seven year old son in firing range of two genocidal robots that shoot nuclear energy from their finger tips? I dunno, but I probably would want him home studying too. It's Goku and Piccolo's job to save the world, Gohan is a child and needs to grow up so he can decide for himself.

Yeah, she doesn't have common sense, but that's a mother, always thinking what's best for her child. :D

Well I already made my case on the what's best for her child thing, and I think Chi-Chi was the better parent in this regard. But again, the circumstances of Gohan's upbringing are bizarre at best.So yeah.

So, it's bad to be a nerd?

:(
Well, in DBZ it is. The whole the revolves around fighting. Gohan is still my favorite character since cell games. I just expected more from him.

This is true. But even with planet busting super power, most of the the time Gohan is involved in these galactic conflicts he's still under 10. That's a lot to put on a kid's shoulders even if he does have super powers. I'll agree Chi-Chi was strict, but I think she was a good mother.

I don't think Goku was a bad Dad so to speak, he was just put in tough situations. As was Piccolo (granted I think Piccolo's much smarter and handled those situations a bit better, but that's not up for debate). But either way, I think Gohan being that young and literally being asked to save the universe when his Dad, Godfather and adoptive Uncles can't (Despite them being much more skilled and experienced) is glossed over quite a bit. It's amazing Gohan didn't have a complete psychotic breakdown by the time he graduated college. If The Great Saiyaman was a result of all that psychological trauma, then I think Dragon World and Orange Star City got off really easy just having him turn into a masked super hero as an outlet.

The thing I love about Gohan is even though he doesn't like fighting, he'll still risk his life and fight for the Earth when he needs to. That's a true hero.

I hate Gohans power when he grows up. His intelligence should have a way to boost it up otherwise it would be waste of the strongest unfused saiyan individual in the universe.

At least my mother doesn't hire some guy to whip me when I do no wrong..
i understand that was filler but seriously.. why? it only made me slip into my hatred for her..
Chi-Chi didn't know Shu-sai'aku was a whip-lashing prick. When she figured out once the tutor whipped Gohan till he bleed and attributing his resistance towards Goku, she kicked him out. Besides, who isn't to say that it wasn't common in Federal Japan to have tutors who whip children when they're acting out of control? That other scene you cited is filler as well.

Anyways, Gohan's nerdiness in the Boo Saga is due to interacting with people who actually matter in society and throughout his childhood, most of the people he interacted with were adults (except Piccolo) since he lives far in the middle of nowhere.

Never liked Mr.Shu, though he is alot like my school cadet instructor, but mine is more strict. :D

God forbid he wants to have a successful future.
Yeah, there were some characters in the show who were huge leeches.

(his name start with a K, and he trained at the Turtle School)

Meanwhile, Gohan was making bank.
