The youtube clip looked bad but I didn't realise how easily the bone just shot out. Looked like it could happen so easily. |

Yeas. As a note Louisville went on to win and Ware has a broken leg (obviously). Louisville will play in the final 4 next week amazingly in the hometown of Ware (Atlanta) so he will be able to attend the game since it's where he lives. |

Gosh that doesn't look like it would feel too pleasant. How did it happen? What exactly caused it? |

Yeah these are the injuries that you just wouldn't wish on anyone ever. A lot of the time the person gets traumatised also. I remember football keeper who witnessed a compound fracture up close and he needed therapy. Such an awful thing to go through. |

yeah it honestly made me sick a bit, apparently people were screaming and some people on the teams threw up i have a question light was the injury because of the awkward way he landed or not enough calcium or a mix of both or something else? because i have watched a lot of basketball and have never seen anything like this before. |

Truthfully I didn't see it at the time, Cal made me aware of it. Although I'm no expert I've always been led to believe that the cause of these injuries are normally down to terrible luck, the angle and the force in which they fall usually. However with this specific individual I read that it may have been an underlying bone issue or undiscovered stress fractures which isn't that uncommon. I once went to the hospital over a leg injury and they told me it was a sprain. One week later I had a scan and it turned out I had broken my leg in 4 places and my foot in 3 ![]() As for the calcium thing that is definitely a possibility, like you said this is extremely rare and he didn't fall particularly badly so a lack of bone strength, plus stress fractures, with the added fact he's always jumping up and down on a hard surface means that this all combined to cause the gruesome injury. |

This was a freak accident based on the way he landed. Nothing to due with calcium. Most serious injuries are freak accidents, nothing you can do about it. |

I do agree that it was most likely a freak accident but vitamin D and calcium deficiency are not unrelated to incidents of this type. http://www.livestrong.com/article/311282-signs-symptoms-of-vitamin-d-calcium-deficiency/ http://abcnews.go.com/Health/kevin-wares-broken-leg-possibly-caused-undetected-stress/story?id=18854412#.UV4UgVc7bG8 |
