Lara Croft returns with a new design and new game play style. Do I like it? Heck yeah. I like how in this game she is actually human and not some over powered super hero like in all the others. Although having said that, she still recovers from injuries a bit too quickly for her to be completely realistic. But then it's a game so we should expect that.

The game does a good job of incorporating a survival aspect to it. You can hunt deer and rabbits and forage for fruit ect. There are wolves that randomly jump out at you from the bushes. Plus lots of obstacles and puzzles to over come in a kind of believable way.

Graphically it's top class. I'm running it on ultra with a Windows 7 64 bit PC that has a Radeon 6870 graphics card and 6gb of RAM and it looks amazing. Especially the opening cut scene. Very good water and rain effects, dirt, fire, lighting. Fantastic. I did come across one strange graphical issue though. Near the start of the game I came across something that looked like a wall, but I could walk straight through it because it was only a texture. It was a bit strange and I'm not sure what it was supposed to be. But apart from that, it looks really nice.

The story seems very interesting so far. Lara's boat sinks and her crew get stuck on this weird island where they have to survive. She then has to develop into a much stronger person to survive and this is done by gaining upgrades to your skills and weapons. There are lots of secrets throughout the game too. Relics that you can find by solving puzzles and locating secret places. I like that sort of thing. It's good that they kept some actual tomb raiding in a game called Tomb Raider. It's not just Uncharted where you play as a woman instead. It does still feel like Tomb Raider but with a current generation edge to it.

The game smoothly transitions from game play to cut scenes so well that sometimes I don't realise that the cut scene has finished. Plus it's all pretty much just one big level with areas of the map being separated by event sequences and cut scenes.

So yeah, it's a very good game but I don't see it having any replay value, it's a little bit buggy and a tad unbelievable at times. Oh and why add a multiplayer? Is this some mandatory requirement that all game companies now have to fulfil? I don't know about you but when I go to play Tomb Raider, I'm pretty much only interested in the single player elements.

I give this 8/10 because it's enjoyable to play, graphically superb, but not perfect and I only want to play through it once. Unlike the classic Tomb raider games which I can pick up again and again.

Of course, I played Tomb Raider when I was younger, but I never got far in the games (pushing around the butler was all I was good at lol)

I think I'll get this one in a while. Yeah, maybe it doesn't have replay value, but it's not like many games do. But I know people that really like TR games and like you said, they were able to play them over and over again.^^

If you don't like the MP, then don't play it :P I know what you mean, with every game has to get one (even GoW), but it's not like it makes the actual game worse.
It's nice that they added a MP, even if it's not the best there is.

The problem is that they put time and resources into multiplayer which they could otherwise be using to polish the single player game a bit more.

Yeah, that's true...but I can't imagine that the singe player would be much better. Maybe a little bit, but I think it would still stay the same it is now.

Besides, if there's a bug or something like that, they're most likely bring out updates anyway.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

This is a 7/10 for me.

It would be a 9 but I just find it silly how she's still alive.
Within the first 10 minutes or so she should really be dead lol stabbed through the side and quite likely the kidney, yet she's fine? No...

Other than her superhuman durability and perseverance I think this is way better than the old games. Lara is way more of a believable character now(personality wise)
It's like playing a movie.

On that, anyone else find the island to be sort of like the island in King Kong lol? Not in a bad way just reminds me of it, minus the dinosaurs and such of course.

The AI is kind of bad though I was crouched in an empty room and a dude walked right past me...wasn't dark either.
But no game is perfect.

Is this a reboot of the series or just a one time thing? Really liking the style sequels would be cool however Lara would probably change to much and should with all the killing.

It is a reboot. I think a sequel would have to be a much different game though. This one is all about her growing as a character. The next one should probably be more like a traditional Tomb Raider game.
