I don't really have an opinion on it yet. I'll just wait a while after it comes out before I decide if I like it or not. All I know is I don't want another Xbox, as I disliked both the Xbox and the 360.. And the fact I'm a playstation gamer, I suppose.

Not much to go on yet, Microsoft hasn't released any information really. Sony definitely set the bar high this year, it'll be interesting to see what happens.

Would be great if they actually showed a d*** console. But either way, I'm not really that much into that stuff anyway.

My husband's huge into gaming and he said that he really doesn't care in all honesty. He said he perfectly happy with his 360 and PS3. I bought him his PS3 a couple years ago and he doesn't use it as often as his 360. That's his baby.

I am going to move this to the gaming section.

edit:

I will miss the ps3 because I really like it. I don't see the Ps4 changing anything that major. We will see how it is though. I may buy it when it comes out.

I haven't seen the 720 so I'll withhold comparisons. I don't like how the new PS4 controller looks and having only seen one trailer of a potential PS4 game[1] I'm not impressed. I mean when I first saw the Ps3 the graphics blew me away but that's not the case with it's successor. Still there is a lot of time for my opinion to change and I'll have to wait for the big unveiling before anything can really be said about the console.

Considering the PS3 already had quite a good amount of advantages over the 360 (had internet search on long before the 360 did, can play Blu-ray discs, free online subscription) it's hard to see the 720 topping the PS4.
As long as games from the previous Playstation generations can be played on it, I'll be happy.

I think they said it won't be reverse compatible with PS3 if I recall. I wasn't impressed at all with the graphics. Hardly mind blowing. The main selling point of a new console should be it's graphics capabilities but it doesn't seem to be the case with this one. They don't even need to release a new console. PS3 is fine at the moment. I think they should have waited until better graphics hardware was cheaper before declaring this was a thing.

I don't know what game trailer you looked at, but the graphics were pretty mind blowing for a console. It's going to be a dedicated graphics card meaning that it will have it's own memory. PS3 only had a integrated card, so it drew the memory from the systems RAM. It's also going to have an 8 core CPU This will make the graphics look equivalent to PC graphics. I mean if you're running a 200 dollars+ card on a PC it's not going to be better. I consider my PC a gaming computer, I only have a quad core atm.

They haven't released the specification on the card exactly, just that it's DDR5 memory and dedicated. Still first ever dedicated GPU in a gaming console. It's safe to say without even knowing the specs that it's leaps above the PS3 graphics capability.

Next to no games will utilize the 8 CPUs. This is once again all hyped up by Sony. 245 fps or some *****? Really? The human eye can't see more than 63-65. As soon as I heard that last part ive put the ps4 in the back with the ps3. Stop lying for a change Sony.

No, PC games use 8 CPU's either, they're saying what the consoles capable of. They're not lying lol.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

That's what's wrong with games these days, it's all about graphics amd not the actual game.

Which is why PS4 games will be awesome, game developers have complained to them so much about not having enough space to work with, now they jave what 32x more RAM to use for games which means they can fit a lot more stuff in.

Never seen many brilliant Microsoft games but all the indie games on PS3 and Xbox are superb and can now be made even better.

Game consoles are supposed to be fun not about graphics.
If someones designed a rock in a CoD map for example to look more real than a real rock, is anyone really going to notice that, without someone pointing it out? No.
People don't notice the difference in graphics between Xbox and PS3 as it is, PS4 is a huge jump up in middle class gaming culture.

Worst thing about it is no backwards compatibility, but they'll still have PSX, PS2 and PS3 games on the store anyway, all it means is that you have to buy games.
And every game will have a demo so you're not going to spend loads of money on games you hate.

What better console is there?

If it's a dedicated card, does this mean that it will be easier to mod the machine to our own specifications? I.e putting in our own cards. Obviously some degree of hacking would be required because of the necessary drivers but it seems like something that can be done relatively easily by a casual hacker.

I have seen all the gameplay's and trailers from the PS4 announcement and that alone gives me the urge to hit people that say it sucks....
It's so much better in so many ways.

I also have come to hate the people that still say the gameplay's are obviously from a PC.....Grow up, seriously, PC's were not intended as consoles, and console graphics have grown, PC's have no special ability that means that if something has good graphics it MUST be on a PC.
Which is why I loved when Crysis 2 landed on home consoles :D
Then people shut up, for a while :p

Watch_Dogs looks amazing, to be honest, and I can't wait to get my hands on the game, for the PS4, of course.

As for the Xbox, I don't really care, I've always been a casual gamer and I've never taken favourites, they are both consoles made to entertain people, but I got both a PS3 and a 360, so I will probably also pick up a 720 when it's released.

Actually PC's are typically more efficient than consoles due to having dedicated hardware instead of integrated hardware. If you think of all the things a PC does in the background whilst also running a high end game then you can see how they are generally more powerful and complex machines than consoles.

Another problem I have with consoles is their lack of modability. If my graphics card starts to struggle, I don't replace the whole machine, I buy a new card. When consoles start to look old fashioned and dated, they release a whole new machine.

Then there's mods in games. A lot of PC games are able to be modded beyond recognition. This is not the same as DLC on consoles. This is people taking the game's engine and creating brand new stuff then releasing it for free over the internet for everyone to use. And speaking of engines, how many console games let you download the engine of the game and play around with it? Probably zero.

So my main issue with consoles is the lack of customisation, inflexible hardware and their inefficient and often dated hardware.

Of course I'm still gonna buy it for multiplayer and exclusive games.

But yeah, PC pwns all day long forever.
