Now what about Cell, would he have done the same to the doctor? I think Cell always spoke of Gero with respect so I don't think he would have. But on the other hand he planned to destroy Earth which I don't think Gero ever wanted.

Cell is the most intelligent villain the Z-Fighters has ever had, and he would never be anyone's lacky. I think he would have disposed of Gero if it was necessary, and that moment would eventually arrive.

Gero knew he would die before Cell would be complete. Uhm, did he? He turned himself into an android, effectively giving himself eternal life. I didn't know 17 and 18 would rebel against him and actually kill him. He made a deactivator in case they did rebel, but he didn't know 17 would take it and destroy it.
