I just read through raditz arrival in the manga, and i noticed a few things.

1. raditz expected goku to remember both him and their parents.

2. raditz expected goku to know what happened to planet vegeta.

3. raditz stated that all the saiyans currently alive were on missions when the planet was destroyed.

this got me to thinking. he couldn't be referring to goku being on earth, since then goku wouldn't know about planet vegeta's destruction. kakarot had to have actually purged a planet before being sent to earth for raditz's statement to make any sense. kakarot also had to be old enough to have developed long term memory when vegeta was destroyed, since he was supposed to remember his parents who died when vegeta was destroyed.

Maybe through his spaceship he was supposed to be able to communicate with space? And find all of that info there?

Nah, the context really doesn't fit. raditz said that all the survivors survived because they were on a mission in response to goku's accusation that purging planets was wrong. he was specifically pointing out (at least it seemed so to me), that goku only survived because of his own wrongdoing.

communicating through scouter was something i thought of, but it just doesn't seem to fit, imo.

I don't understand what you're implying... I think the "wrongdoings" are supposed to be the missions they had.

Goku survived because he was on Earth, and he was on Earth because he had the mission to destroy every living being on it, and he didn't do his mission because he hit his head and forgot his mission.

When exactly, did Raditz expect Goku to know about Planet Vegeta's destruction? And the only time he mentioned his father was when he compared them. I can't find it in my manga, but then again, I have a translated edition.

I hope i didn't download a bad translation and look stupid here. It said Viz, but who knows. and before anyone gets on to me about not just buying it, i don't have the money to afford that.

chapter 199 page 3. panel 1.

raditz: impossible. you could never have forgotten me... or our mission.

so goku definitely should know raditz.

chapter 199 pg. 10 panel 4.

raditz: i suppose you've forgotten that vegeta, the saiyan homeworld, was destroyed by collision with an asteroid.

so goku used to know what happened to vegeta.

the parents mention is on page 11, and is more of an afterthought. that's also where raditz statement about the saiyans "doing wrong" is what kept them alive. and he definitely included goku in that.

Well, it's not in my translation. It is also an authorized edition, since it was sold in this country.

Lunar, those quotes are accurate to the Viz translations.

That is not to say that they are accurate translations in and of themselves but yes, they are the same as the Viz translations.

Goku was supposed to do all that and know that (maybe he had a scouter in his pod idk).

How should Raditz know that Goku hit his head and was taken by Grandpa Gohan.

There must be some translation editing going on, because chapter 3 panel 1 here says "And now... I need something to eat."

Something like this on page 10 panel 4: "There is nothing wrong with your optimism. Your power is another story." "Two pathetic amateurs that has no idea what they're getting themselves into."

I translated as best as I could.

good enough for me. I use herms for power related stuff anyway. Plot statements don't need to be as accurate as power statements.

so goku really was old enough to remember vegeta's explosion, and recognize his brother, either by sight or voice, when he landed on earth. at the very least, that voids any chance of the daiz timeline being correct on how old goku was when he was sent to earth.
