Need some advice. I'm not really a big gamer to be honest, but I do play a few regularly enough. Anyway, I was considering getting rid of my Xbox and getting a PS3 instead. Reason being that 1. I want something to play Blu-rays, 2. I'm sick of paying for Xbox Live. Plus they've become reasonably cheap now, so if I figured that if I traded in my Xbox or sold it and all the games then I wouldn't be paying much for the PS3 really. What do you more knowledgable people think? |

It depends on whether or not you play online, and which console more of your friends have. If you play online, and have friends with both consoles, then a PS3 is most likely the better choice, as like you already said you don't have to pay an annual subsciption to play against other people over PSN, whereas you do have to pay annually for Xbox Live. There are also more Naruto and Bleach games for the PS3 than the Xbox, and anime games are released for the PS3 much more frequently than for the Xbox360. However, I don't know if the games that you like are available on the PS3. Ordinarily I would recommend the PS3 over the Xbox anyway, and if you want a Blu Ray player then that really swings it. |

IDK what's the durability with Xbox but I've had my PS3 for year and half and it's broken down already. It isn't even the phat version which got recalled but the slim one. I would only switch over to PS3 for exclusive games as most games can be interchanged between consoles. |

Personally, I wouldn't do it. I read online that all PS3/360 games are originally 360 formatted and later transferred to the PS3, meaning that PS3 games glitch out more. Plus XBOX has some cool games that the PS3 doesn't. At the end of the day, it's your choice, should you stay with Microsoft? Or switch to Sony? Great questions, but the real question is... God of War? Or Fable? |

Where did you see this? I've played some games on 360 that have had major glitches so it's a two way street. |

I personally prefer Xbox over Playstation, but it's just me. It all depends on what type of games you enjoy. |

I wouldn't if you're not 100% sure about it. PSN network might be free but it's not stable and has some sketchy servers from my experience. Other than that PS3 outshines 360 a lot too, but I feel that anyone who isn't sure about it shouldn't do it unless they just have the money to spare. |

Online I've only had problems with the likes of CoD games being glitchy other than newly released games which need some updates. It's not as bad as people say it is I've never been a victim to hacking. If you just buy vouchers for store money rather than save details on it then nothing will be stolen(never known anyone to actually lose money) Even if you do get hacked Sony give you the money back and you usually get some free games out of it. I would say go for it its a lot better for if you just want to watch blu-rays or stuff on Netflix etc and you can leave it for days if you cba playing and it won't be wasting money. Not sure what games you're in to but there's plenty of classic PSX and PS2 games on the store to play too. I'd certainly rather a very very small chance of being hacked to quite a high chance of RRoD. Again hacking isn't as big a problem as people make it out to be it tends to be the ammunition people use to say Xbox > How do we know Microsoft aren't paying hackers... |

Well I went down to my local gamestore and asked how much I'd get to trade in the console + my games. It came out at $210.50, and a brand new 12GB (which is enough for me) PS3 is $248, although I'd need to pay for games as well (I think they have deals for that but the guy was busy so I'll ask another time). I got more for it than I thought I would, so it makes it more tempting. I think I'll sleep on it for a few days, thanks for the advice guys. |

Yeah, they do used ones for $128. But I don't know, the site has less than favourable reviews for them and I'm not too trustworthy of pre-owned hardware. |

- Want to play Blu-rays - Don't want to pay for Xbox Live Well that certainly sounds like you want to get rid of your Xbox regardless. From there on I see two options - get PS3 - get Blu-ray player, and save a few bucks To be honest you should really only get a PS3 if you know you're going to use it. Do you think you'd actually play it regularly enough for the large cost it comes with? |

Wow they sound like they cost a lot more over there I got my 320gig one for £250 here I'd say its worth getting because you're paying $200 or whatever for one thing but you're really getting over $400 worth of hardware(no idea what a blu-ray player costs there) And even if you're not playing games much one day one might come out that you desperately want to play. Had about 5 PS3's and only one has broke and it probably could have been fixed easily but my stepbrother smashed it up... Also i hear Xbox's are quite noisy. |

Keep your 360. The only game coming out for the PS3 in it's remaining lifespan worth getting is The Last of Us |
