Long story short it's about a young boy called Oliver who's mother has recently died who befriends a fairy named Drippy and goes to a parallel world called Another World to become a magician and bring back his late mother. This is essentially PS3's answer to Pokemon and Legend of Zelda combined in to one game. IT HAS A WORLD MAP. Not like FFXIII's one big(ish) open area you can wander around and do whatever around training your Familiars which are basically Pokemon, but you get to control them. In battle you can play as Oliver and attack with a weapon, cast defensive and offensive spells or you can call out and control a Familiar each with their own unique skills and abilities. There's a demo of it in the PS store(don't worry you're not timed for missions its just in the demo) Finally a next gen RPG that isnt all about the gameplay and graphics

Do you know how many Familiars there are? Like...can you get different ones like in Pokemon? I like Pokemon and I like those kinda games (Dark Cloud, Rune Factory blablabla) but this one doesn't like a must-buy to me... I like the graphics and stuff though (I liked Spirited Away and the other movies^^) |

I'm not sure you don't get to catch any in the demo... I guess there might be a spell or something you get to have them and unlike Pokemon since a girl joins your party you can have way more than 6 familiars which is awesome ![]() Its also done with an anime studio so the story should be awesome. Edit heres a list: http://m.uk.ign.com/wikis/ni-no-kuni-wrath-of-the-white-witch/Familiars So theres quite a lot and they all evolve multiple times. I guess people will complain that there's not like 600 Pokemon/Familiars but its more about the story and gameplay anyway. Edited by Steve, Jan 27 2013, 04:37 PM.

I have mixed feeling about this game, which is probably why I have not bought it. The general consensus is that is the Tales series meets Pokemon. I love the Tales series, I like d Pokemon, but Studio Ghibli artwork is such a major deterrent. |

I think its fine they haven't had to devote all their attention to making it look like real life. It looks like a nice game that children can enjoy, there aren't many of those these days only really when they make a game of a childrens movie. But also something that older RPG fans can enjoy because there's a lot in it. I can't remember the last long game I played from the current gen since FFXIII every game has taken me 1-3 days max(so like 15 hours gameplay) These days games are only long when you have a large area to play in and have to find 1000 pointless collectibles. It kind of reminds me of Dragon Quest actually. |
