Earlier, SuperSaiyan2 requested a Signature, Aang already took care of it, but I just made one for fun ^_^

It took me about an hour to cut out Goku and Vegeta (People really should post renders) and about an hour 20 in total.

Spoiler: click to toggle

I don't really like this at all. One of my worst I would say.

When people post renders it does make it easier but they shouldn't take too long.
How did you cut the renders out? If you use the pen tool it should be a fairly quick and painless process.

Multiple renders in one signature is always a hard thing to pull off as normally it's better to create everything around one focal.

I think your signature is fine but a little simple (I know he requested that, I just meant from an overall perspective).
I believe depth could have been used here, maybe some foreground effects (effects in front of the render) coupled with some background effects would have added a cool dimension.

I think the background is a little monochromatic. I think it needed a little more colour to really make everything and pop and add a nice sheen to it.

Overall I think this is something you should be proud of. It's great you tried out a request as it's harder to make something for someone else as you have to adhere to the guidelines they set.

Great job man!

I personally use the pen tool.
Click on one area and then another, I click all around the render, leaving a few centimeters of a gap and leaving dots where I clicked. Then I click make selection which will link all the dots together, Invert it which will select everything outside of the render and cut it away. Leaving the render.

I didn't explain this to well sorry, if you're still interested this tutorial is helpful.

If you are given a picture with a background then you have to cut em out. It's not as hard as you'd think.
Sometimes people don't give pictures and the designer will most likely find a render, or a character/person/object with no background.

Thanks Light, and you too Crash ^_^

I use the Lasso Tool on GIMP to cut things out.

I may not deserve to live, but I will protect those in my reach with my reverse blade!

I take shortcuts because I hate cutting images out (even though I'm still practicing it).

Usually take the image put a layer behind it (most of the time transparent and the layer has to be the first one) and then use a history brush tool around the to-be render. Makes for sloppy work but doesn't take as long and you can make it look decent by either lassoing the to-be render or even using different effects like smudging once you have a background ready.

I think what Light said is perfect for this situation. The pen tool is the fastest, easiest way to get a perfect cut picture without the hassle. I really don't like cutting out pictures, but sometimes I do it because they are better. It depends on the situation or what I am going for.

As for your signature. Light is right about having to pull off two renders in one signature as difficult. I used the same picture you did in one of my signatures. You can have two renders in a signature, but you have to make sure they flow with one another. They have to go together. You can't separate them because you want the viewer to see the renders.

Here is an example of when I used two renders together. I used the same picture of Goku as you did.

This isn't the best signature by far. There are things I can see that I should have done that I didn't like put Goku/Chichi too far to the right. In this instance, I had too because the image I chose wasn't right for the signature.

Anyway, you see how I made Goku and Chichi combined in some way or in the same motion? If you want to use two renders, I feel they should be connected in some way.

Your signature isn't bad. As you progress, you will see your signatures get better. Tutorials are the best way to learn basics and new techniques to get better. Trust me it works.

I want to see more from you. Keep it up.
