Okay, I have a PSP model 3002 (Newest model I believe) and I had it since 2010. I always kept it in great condition, and I never had a problem... Until yesterday. I was playing DBZ TTT for about 15 minutes, then I heard these really loud noises coming from the UMD slot and the screen went black. It wouldn't turn off for some reason, so I took the battery out, forcing it to shut down. Now, whenever I try to turn it on with a game in, it won't work, it keeps freezing, but whenever I turn it on with the game out, it works fine. Long story short, something stuffed up, and now I can't play games :(
My brother had this same problem a lot... He had to replace his PSP four times, and get it fixed once. Can somebody help me?

Stupid question: You said without game in, you can turn it on...but turning on without game, then putting in game doesn't work though, right?

It is the newest model of the "real PSPs". I have a 3004, means I only have a different region (last number is for region), so we basically have the same one.

I'd say I have mine since 2010-2011, can't remember exactly, sorry. Before that, I had the 1000, I think (sorry, really bad memory...) My old one was still working though.

Both of them froze many times already and sometimes they even made loud noises, but they never stopped working like yours did. My PSP froze many times while playing DBZ TTT.

I'd say, maybe you should go to a repair shop? I got quite a few shops around here, where they repair stuff, restore data and just things like that. I guess they can tell you if they can fix it or if you should just get a new one. But I don't think that there's anything you can do yourself.

No. It doesn't work. I can't play games :(

I think I need to get it repaired, but my brother's one broke again a few months after a repair, so I don't know if it's worth it.

I'd say it depends on the price of the repair. But if you play PSP then it would be worth it. But I don't know what this PSP now costs, so I'm not sure. Sorry.

Was you PSP installing anything when you turned it off? If so it may have become bricked (Which I think means you need a new motherboard). Other than that you might have a damaged switchboard or motherboard, so you'd just need to replace whichever one doesn't work.

I'd get it checked since I'm no expert by any means (and I've never had a PSP before... )

No. Nothing was installing. My brother told me it could be a broken laser.
