I haven't watched most of Dragon Ball so I'm not gonna comment further on Yamcha/Bulma besides insisting that it is still Yamcha making the choice of putting up with whatever Bulma does and keep going back to her as far as I know, if he stayed he probably liked it. The sexism is "admonished" but jokingly like it's not that big a deal, and it still doesn't minimize the sexual objectification of women. When are the men in DBZ ever shown in that light? They are not because in DBZ only women end up being sexual objects, you wont see one ugly women on DBZ, they are all young and cute, because in DBZ women are in big part there to look pretty. It happens on many animes and many american TV shows too, it is pathetic but I guess it is what it is, I subject myself to it if the series is really worth it like DBZ. |
