Buu saga For the Win.

Just because its different from the Early Z , doesn't mean its bad. Its overall better except for the story.

Shoulda been Saiyan, Androids, Then Frieza Saga.
or AT could of put a bit more brainpower into his thought process and actually plan out his series incase of "What If's";
- Rabbid Fans.
- Show Extensions.
- Show Specials.
- Etc 4 Lyphe yo!

Else Totally Agree with OP.

Edit;
- Less SSJ giving to 10 year olds IMO.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Mine (breaking down the sagas):

Frieza > Cell > Saiyan > Namek > Android > Buu > Other World Tournament > World Tournament > Garlic Jr. > Saiyaman

I'm probably in the minority but I enjoyed Gohan's misadventures at High School and his date with Videl more than the actual Majin Boo meat (not that I didn't enjoy it).

I think enjoying that saga requires you to like older Gohan, and I really don't. He pretty much lost everything that was cool about him in the Cell saga imo. I wish AT made him a smart badass, and not a goofy nerd.

Definitely when Goten and Kid Trunks apparently became Super Saiyans just because of some genetic bull*****. Reduced to a child's plaything doesn't even cover how ridiculous the concept is.

Come on, Garlic Jr wasn't that bad. Faulconer's music alone in this one was amazing and unique.

The term 'Jump the Shark' originated from a stunt in episode "Hollywood, Part Three of Three", where Fonzie is on water skies literally trying to jump over a shark. Basically, it's meaning is when a series has reached it's peak but the creator still wants it to live on and what further ensues is an inevitable decline in quality (either it be in storytelling, characterization, aesthetics etc.). Likewise, they introduce a new gimmick as an attempt to keep the audience interested.

Personally, I think it jumped the shark initially with the Artificial Human Saga (despite it and the Imperfect Cell portion of the Cell Saga being my favorite points in DBZ) and it becomes pretty obvious by the Majin Boo Saga (or somewhere around it).

Don't get my wrong, I like the Artificial Humans a lot (especially 18) and I thought Cell in himself was a really well thought out (and original) villain but I find the idea that a whack-o scientist somehow being able to create a bunch of Artificial beings that are stronger than Freeza (the root of everything that happened to Goku) to be silly and improbable. Not to mention the dragonballs were no longer a major part of the narrative but a minor plot convenience, and it's also where the Saiyans started to overshadow the rest of the cast. As for the Majin Boo Saga, while not terrible, there's a long list of stuff from it that I call BS on and the most infamous one would have to be Super Saiyan being reduced to mere child's plaything. Also, the villain Majin Boo has nothing to with any of the previously-established story arcs.

The question is, do you think Dragon Ball ever 'Jumped the Shark' or not? If so then tell at what point?
It jumped the shark after Goku had sacrificed himself to Cell. The Cell Saga was the last one that gave me interest. The whole cell games was perfect enough to leave it as it was. It also would have been the better ending allowing Gohan to take his rightful place as the new protector of Earth. Buu Saga was the worst one of the series.

Edit: Garlic Jr was a great saga. It wasn't Goku saving the world as usual. I actually got to see some other characters save the Planet for once.

On paper it was a great idea but in practice, it was an ungodly boring waste of time IMO. The battle between Garlic Jr. was too lengthy and uninvolving, the pointless cutaways to Maron really pissed me off, and the animation was significantly worse than how the rest of the anime generally looked (it's sad when Last House provides the best output for a Saga).

The only memorial thing that came out of it was Kaio-ken Chi-Chi:

Chichi going Kaioken was pretty awesome. I liked seeing her fight in that series which is why I don't hate the Garlic Jr. Saga so much. I wish there were more fight scenes with here.

@Poo- I would agree with you for the most part, but the Buu Saga was bleh to say the least.

I would have been fine if the Androids were stronger than Freezer because they had data on Kakarot when he went to Namek, and he made them, as well as himself, and Cell, stronger than that, but since not, it didn't make any sense.

The whole story with Boo was even worse, Kaioshin was introduced as a divine being, who said he could one-shot Freezer, and seemed to think SSJ2 Gohan was nothing special, and later, he is implied to be weaker than the Base Saiyans, and Boo, who Kaioshin warned about, was shown to be far stronger than the SSJ2s, it was all messy. Dabura was crap, too, as well as the use of Magic, in that Arc.

I'm fine with Freezer being thrown in the dust, but the way it was done was pretty bad, IMO.
