Pretty much anything that is recommended to me, but the more popular the better for some reason, which usually ends up being shounen/action/fantasy/adventure, anything a typical fanboy wants, lol.

I can watch slice of life/comedy/more laid back anime, but they don't usually stick much, I only end up watching them once or twice if ever again. And for some reason the messed up story lines drag me in, ahem.

I yearn for an anime with smooth, consistent pacing and a likable cast of likable characters; with an uplifting message to send or at least a pinch of comedy/action thrown in for flavor. A slice-of-life might be the remedy.

Note: Do not recommend Elfen Lied to me because I thoroughly dislike it (at least concerning the anime because I hear the manga is much better).

I probably have the most shallow taste in Anime you can get, I only really watch (well I prefer reading manga of a series but watch some of the anime) Shonen battle series mostly (with the odd exception like Death Note). I can't get in to slice of life or romance because it's not my idea of entertaining. Comedy series are mostly a miss as well because they tend not to work too much with my sense of humour and there's cases where not being Japanese means you don't really get why something is funny.

I do have a requirement that it should have an overall plot though. I've really grown to dislike arc by arc series.

I looooove a good messed up anime, but I have the same problem with Elfen Lied as I do Gantz, the original Hellsing, and even Soul Eater.

When you make an anime based of an ongoing manga, there is a it turns into a 13-episode commercial for the manga. The three I mentioned deviate from the manga so much and do it so poorly, that there is no closure and a fan practically HAS to read the manga to gain some sort of completeness.

Oh good god thumbs up! You have no idea how correct this is. This is why I absolutely hate, with all of my being the Elfen Lied anime. Everything, everything that was great about the manga, the plot, the characters, the charaterization, the emotions, even the artwork as it got much better completely blew the anime out of the water. They couldn't get a single thig right in it.

Lucy goes from being an emotional, sadistic and maniplulative woman to this emotionless Mary Sue character.

I utterly deplored the BS they did to my favorite character Bando and ruined his character from the start, overexaggerating his violent tendencies even at the beginning.

And they did it to all the characters really, completing screwig them up.

It took away all the important plot points of the manga such as "Elfen Lied" I don't care how nice Lilium sounds it's not "Elfen Lied." It took out Lebensborn another very important aspect of the manga and Nozomi who had no reason not to be included.

I mean the anime couldn't even get Isobe to look right, as if it's that hard and the guy doesn't exactly go through any major changes. I hate the anime, I have everything about it and I hate it when people come up and think it was the greatest anime of all time because I can tell more tha half of them have probably ever read the original manga or what it's original meaning was.

It was a terrible anime from start to finish.
