Unless you're totally boss like Kenpachi you need a Bankai to become a captain. Obviously with just his Shikai Aizen could feign having a Bankai, which he obviously did. But do you think he actually had a Bankai ever? Can't really think what it would be other than unconditional OP hypnosis of some sort. It's hard to see where he would get the time to train to achieve Bankai since he managed to be observing practically everything. But then being equal to Urahara in intellect perhaps he figured out a shortcut. If it was as OP as unconditional hypnosis he would surely use that to have all of Soul Society at his command... Which makes it seem as if he never really achieved it. Thoughts? Edited by Steve, Jan 6 2013, 02:36 AM.

Seeing how hasty he was with wanting to break the wall between Hollow and Shinigami, it just doesn't seem like he'd wait as long as it took to get by normal means. As to what it is, I honestly couldn't guess. You never know, he could have activated his bankai back in the SS arc and its still having an effect now.

Every zanpakto has the potential to reach bankai, but few achieve it. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know he probably did. Plus it suggests he's already used his bankai in the manga. In one of the recent chapters he blurred Juha Bach's perception in battle, yet he didn't have his sword on him when Juha visited him, suggesting that he has a bankai and has been using it but it's more of a body bankai than a weapon form the actual sword (like Ichigo's, same moves but increases everything way beyond shikai release and even gives him new clothes). His shikai would be a more crappier version of complete hypnosis. Only way that's possible is if he stays in bankai all the time with his sword and his sword would be the only one shown to ever not change appearance when going from one state to another, which is highly unlikely.

Byakuya's Shikai was through his sword, and his bankai become full body in a way, so I guess that is possible. There was barely any difference between the two powers, except it being stronger. So okay I take that back, Aizen's Bankai is probably complete hypnoses through his body (add a tsukuyomi like time control effect to make it more hax, like what he did with Bach presumably.) Agree that he has one, but the SS didn't know Aizen did have one. he tricked them into thinking he had an ice-water bankai like Toshiro's, so even though that statement can't be 100% factual I agree because he doesn't have ice/water style but I think he has one.

FF Favourite Manga Naruto	I thought it was a ice-water Shikai he lied about having? But yes I believe he did have a Bankai. Simply put, he was way too strong with his Shikai not to have had a Bankai...and if he never did have a Bankai than great Kami I can't imagine how much destruction he'd inflict should he ever obtain one. Looking back in the Manga and seeing just how devastating powerful he was, just insane. And that was apparently with him just in Shikai state.

If he lied about one he lied about the other.

The best one Favourite Manga They all suck	Soi Fon's does have somewhat of a similarity, both are meant for insta-death type kills (kind of). It's very tough seeing a bankai better than Aizen's shikai. It's possible he manipulated the other captains into thinking he had one (this was actually an idea I had because I was one of the few fans who doubted Aizen's return for a short while, before common sense and the "popularity" card came flying back to me), but now that he's back, I can't help but think that he's got one and that it'll be shown. Besides, with someone of Aizen's caliber, it's impossible for him not to have unlocked it, really, unless he's a troll and his shikai is his bankai (GOSAN KNOWS). Mozilla Firefox Favourite Manga Berserk all day erry day	Ah well, excuse my anime knowledge didn't know he was back :P (I don't mind the spoilers) also I forfot about making this sorry lol. I think it would be vastly unfair if he did have a bankai, it was of course unfair anyway but still an improvement on complete hypnosis with someone as OP as him could just mean world control. I'd prefer it if he didn't have one because say he's not really in tune with his Zanpakuto. With the blurring vision thing perhaps that could just be a residual power from being fused with the hogyouko? It made him immortal so it could easily have left him merged with his shikai still or at least partly so. I guess his bankai might be if you so much as look at him or his eyes(Sharingan much) you're under the hypnosis...but that's awfully plain for a bankai. A kido type bankai would suit him, at least it would give people a chance if he's to wreak havoc once again. It would be cool to see him fight probably Ichigo as an equal rather than totally dominate or be beat by BS powerups.
